I've been thinking of this blog since a while, always hesitating to point fingers. But here and there, all over my life, I find them like annoying little insects, showing up when not expected, not wanting to leave when swatted at.
Who?
The "real men"...
Better: those who think they are "real men".
Those who think that being macho makes them more male.
Those who think that burping and farting in public shows their inner strength.
Those who drink and get drunk and talk "that talk" and think it is an expression of their intelligence.
Those at work who must always have the last word and end every sentence with: "do you understand?"
Those at MD who cannot handle it when a woman says something intelligent and coherent, but they need to plug her words apart and twist them around, so that they look laugheable in the end. And those males think they are so attractive....
Those who cannot stand it when a woman makes a smart remark, but need to insult her and get personal about things they don't know. And again, they think they are so irresistible....
Those who patronize and start every sentence with: "do you know what you should do...?" as if we, the women, don't know what to do without them...
Yes, I'm very tired of these men. 
They are not real to me.
They are indeed like those crummy little insects that keep swarming around the honey, no matter how much you swat them.
Thank goodness there are some real "real men" around.... 
Not very many, granted.
But I do know of at least one,
who can stand by himself,
who can converse without being macho,
who can explain without patronizing,
who can discuss without insults,
who is smart and likes to talk with smart people.....
who IS real....

Why generalize all or most men you come into contact with your past experiences...You seem to be smart enough to know better.I am sure you will get some of these " "...If you have issues then deal with them but don't lump all men together.

I am specifying very clearly..... a certain type of men
Surely this cannot be understood as a generalization,

as for me, there are some women and even some men who will say that i am guilty of many of your examples of a man who is not a true man but only a facade. i do hope that i will continue to grow away from these examples. to help you understand american men and women, we are not taught independence and honor and truth, we are taught the "facade" even from a very early age. those few who develope independence and truth and honor are ostrisized and shunned by "normal" society. the team concept is extremely important to the wealthy white man. without the team there is no peer pressure for the simple minds. oops i ramble! you are correct in you analogy of me Ms Travel, i am guilty and seek to repent of my sins. selah we be jammin

Great blog travel I sense one coming along about what real women are now lol. No matter how you cut the pie, all people men and women want others with positive traits. The list of positive traits are much longer than your list and the list of negative ones can be even longer. It's great that you posted this, and Jam its good that you and others can take this with such humor, and even maybe learn from this. It might be good to make a list for yourself of the positive and negative and see if someone would like to date you, see which list is longer, of course be honest? Course there are those who won't associate themselves with this at all and won't look in the mirror.
Some parts of you list where men cannot accept the truth basically when women make comments that are intelligent and twist her words to make her look stupid, I found on your list interesting. This is obvious in many blogs and I don't have a clue why many, not just men do it, because yes, it reflects back on the person doing the insulting big time and is a "red flag". That will be how they will treat you at home. You didn't mention the person who blames everyone but himself for all the wrong things in his life. Life is what you make it. It's full of choices, decisions, and you decide how you wish to live it. No one decides for you. It's how you choose that matters. tc Lost

You are suggesting here that the mass of men are not real men, and that is in fact a generalization.
The same can be said of women. There are some "real women" out there but not many I grant you, and even fewer on this fantasy land called MD than in the "real world".

well travel, I know exactly how you feel. Finding a real man is like hunting for a needle in a haystack. My daughter reminds me all the time that shopping for men is like going shopping in the damaged area in a furniture store. All men (and women) are damaged, you just have to try and find the damage and see if it is something that you would be able to fix or is it beyond repair. Some are up front about their flaws and then some try to hide them. But if you look long enough, you will find out why they are in the damaged section of the life's store.
