Well, actually them. I got two checks for my insurance on the beach house I lost in Hurricane Ike. One check for the contents and one for the house! Going to put it in the bank and may put it where it is hard for me to get my sticky fingers on it.
I know it is going to be in a money market account so I can acrue interest. Now, need to decide on whether or not to sell the property or put an RV hook up on it...IF the State of Texas allows us to rebuild that close to the beach. A water and electric hook up, clean out the septic tank and maybe a propane tank with a fence around the yard so the dogs can go with us.
Hey, I can pull all the way into the yard now with an RV since the house is gone! I was playing with Paint and 'cleaned up' the picture. Put an arrow where I could maybe drive under, oops I mean between the stilts now.

Wow! It looks pretty darn good without the washing machine, dryer, rusty impaled table, and shiney white toilet in the yard!
And I think you could probably remove a couple of the wooden pilings and still retain the structural integrity of your parking place ~grin~...and maybe even add a canopy for an outdoor sitting area (if the sand fleas aren't too bothersome...otherwise you could deck it a bit. )
Ummm, you might want to consider, though, that an RV might sink up to its frame -- kinda permanently -- in soft sand. Jes' sayin'.
(What's the structure that's still standing? A cistern? Or an electrical/utility room? )

Yeah! I was thinking a canopy over the 2x8 and laying down some more caliche in the drive. I had recently put in a parking area all the way across the front of the property and it is all under sand now. There IS concrete under oops, I mean between the pilings. The mosquitos are more problem than fleas. Especially now. LOL! I doubt many fleas survived the flood!

Woops, I forgot to post, it is a cistern, most likely full of sand and salt now. Oh and that 'rusty' table was actually painted red by my mom. No clue why. It was much prettier black or green.

Well, when I tried to deposit the house check, it seems they put the old name of the original mortgage company on it. That company has since gone out of business. My mortgage changed hands twice and I paid it off last year but it was never recorded so I am having to do some clean up. The contents check is good tho. All my junk was free and clear and no sign of liens anywhere.
So I got the Satisfaction of Mortgage letter faxed to me by my last company and we shall see!

I live on a hill here. I don't do floods ANY more. I am on a nice little elevation from the whole area.
Um, maybe next week we will have a partay! According to the adjustor, once he has all the paperwork filled out and hands it in, then it takes 2-3 weeks max to get the check if all is approved.
Thanks for all your comments!
