So many folks-both on the Net and in my life-have told me they CAN'T WAIT to hear I'VE FALLEN IN LOVE.

Ok.....so, IT HAPPENED, TODAY. I had YET ANOTHER one, of my INFAMOUS First dates; Unlike all the others, though, I DIDN'T play it safe.

Knowing the disaster my life has been, I KNEW I needed a break; As the guy was to show up midmorning to pick me, up, I BROKE ALL MY RULES, DETERMINED TO CHANGE MY LIFE.

I changed the message, on my house voicemail, REMOVING my cell phone number; I also called my best friend Maggie and my neighbor too, and told them that I HAD HAD ENOUGH: I was going to BE OUT FOR THE DAY, and I WOULD NOT TURN THE CELL PHONE ON.

(Of course, I took it, just in case-NOT THAT STUPID, after all)

Next, I dispensed with handbags and bookbags; into the pockets of my tight fitting hiphuggers went a tiny tube of lipstick and a little mascara; showering, I sprayed vanilla in my hair and tossed it about, and put on a black flannel and satin bra.

When my date arrived, THE NEIGHBORS CAME OUT, to STARE: Looking on, WITH APPROVING GRINS, the guy greeted me with evil dimples, behind mirrored sunglasses: As everyone watched, I averted my eyes, in an ATTEMPT to be shy.....

and hopped onto the back OF THE SWEETEST MIDNIGHT BLACK MOTORCYCLE anyone in my neighborhood HAS EVER SEEN.

I fell in love, for sure, TODAY: Touring waterfalls and city streets and highways, in the warm sunlight; I felt my intellect INSIST ON A SABBATICAL, and I stopped my insistence for conversation and cunning.

As the sun set, my date brought me home; He seemed A LITTLE WORRIED, as he walked me to my door.

" I can't believe it", he said, "You're SOO MUCH MORE QUIET, than ANYONE KNOWS...Really SEXY, really SMART, and SO BEAUTIFUL, too".

"Why, thank you", I said, "but it's ALL ABOUT THE RIDE"; and I kissed THE MOTORCYCLE, and said goodbye.

Guess I FOUND MYSELF, in the bike and breeze; My first love Jim, had one. After he died, of prostate cancer, 3 years ago, I vowed I'd never share that WITH ANYONE, again .....

But I've learned, today, I MUST TAKE THE RIDE, even IF THE GUY isn't right.

Jim, I think, WOULD HAVE ME DO, just that.
