As a couple of my friends know, I had a close call the other day. I was in a traffic accident, and the car was totalled. I'm fine, before the three people who actually care ask.
But it got me thinking. Why am I alive? Why am I still alive when so many people deserving of life have passed? I sat down and thought about it, and couldn't come up with one single reason. Not one reason those special people in my life are gone and I'm still walking this Earth.
Today, I figured out the answer. Life isn't about a divine purpose or any special meaning. There isn't some list of things we need to do before we kick it. As simplistic as it sounds, life is about living. Loving your friends and family, doing the right thing when you can, and moving on from the bad things happening in life. I haven't been doing that enough.
Thanks to a friend for inadvertently helping me see that.

You or any of us know what the future holds..........What we may accomplish in the future. Think of it as another chance to live your life as the creator intended.Glad you weren't injured by the way....

KJAC> Sorry to hear ya didn't kick it, man. Ya know how supportive everybody gits when yer dead, man. Shoot...there woulda been blogs and all sorts of niceties...and some might even have taken back that you were an evil stupid liberal commie.
Nah...skip that last remark. Probably not.
Welcome to the living part of your life. In many ways, it changes very little, and it changes everything. Aging helps us encounter more and more that there are no special anythings...other than moments, and the people who fill them. Try as we might to enhance it all with meaning and purpose and keeping things from being 'in vain,' life keeps forcing us to let go, surrender, smile, and breathe more deeply.
I'm glad that you didn't kick it though...really. Because I am no good at remembering to send flowers.

Here is the test to find whether your mission on earth is finished.
If you're alive, it isn't.

I agree with observed....I suck at remembering to send things so your flowers, ya they'd be all wilted ... but it's the thought that counts, isn't it?
And I know for sure this place wouldn't be the same without you...shoot some of us went nutty waiting for you to come back (you HAVE read some of mine and Fen's blogs since you've been back...doesn't get any nuttier that that )

Ouch, dude. Glad you're okay. You never now the whys of things, in the end -- we all end before the the trail of cause and effect does. But given that, yeah, you have to make your own whys (or is that "whies"?). And, indeed, I've found that love's the best place to start.

I just now saw this. I am very glad you're ok. But you know that.
After All, who else can I stalk in the forums and bug?
A great blog, full of very wise words.
