In the laws of Allah, a woman is worth half a man. Women are dirty, vile, evil creatures that must be kept hidden.
This is the second installment to a series devoted to women in Islam. The following are few examples demonstrating women's horrible status and treatment in Islam's own writings (Qur’an, Hadith & Sunna -- all three sources are required studies to become a Muslim, not just the Qur’an):
The devil says to women: "You are half my army!"
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 62: Wedlock, Marriage (Nikaah) Volume 7, Book 62, Number 113: Narrated Abu Huraira: Allah's Apostle said, "The woman is like a rib; if you try to straighten her, she will break. So if you want to get benefit from her, do so while she still has some crookedness."
Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 8: The Book of Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah) Book 008, Number 3467: Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported: Woman has been created from a rib and will in no way be straightened for you; so if you wish to benefit by her, benefit by her while crookedness remains in her. And if you attempt to straighten her, you will break her, and breaking her is divorcing her.
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 62: Wedlock, Marriage (Nikaah) Volume 7, Book 62, Number 30: Narrated Abdullah bin 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said, "Evil omen is in the women, the house and the horse.'
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 3: Knowledge Volume 1, Book 3, Number 81: Narrated Anas: I will narrate to you a Hadith and none other than I will tell you about after it. I heard Allah's Apostle saying: From among the portents of the Hour are (the following): 1. Religious knowledge will decrease (by the death of religious learned men). 2. Religious ignorance will prevail. 3. There will be prevalence of open illegal sexual intercourse. 4. Women will increase in number and men will decrease in number so much so that fifty women will be looked after by one man.
Translation of Sahih Bukhari, Book 62: Wedlock, Marriage (Nikaah) Volume 7, Book 62, Number 33: Narrated Usama bin Zaid: The Prophet said, "After me I have not left any affliction more harmful to men than women."
Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 8: The Book of Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah) Book 008, Number 3240: Jabir reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) saw a woman, and so he came to his wife, Zainab, as she was tanning a leather and had sexual intercourse with her. He then went to his Companions and told them: The woman advances and retires in the shape of a devil, so when one of you sees a woman, he should come to his wife, for that will repel what he feels in his heart.
Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 26: The Book on Salutations and Greetings (Kitab As-Salam) Book 026, Number 5523: 'Abdullah b. 'Umar reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: If there be bad luck, it is in the house, and the wife, and the horse.
Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 36: The Book of Heart-Melting Traditions (Kitab Al-Riqaq) Book 036, Number 6603: Usama b. Zaid reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: I have not left after me any (chance) of turmoil more injurious to men than the harm done to the men because of women.
Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 36: The Book of Heart-Melting Traditions (Kitab Al-Riqaq) Book 036, Number 6606: Abu Sa'id Khudri reported that Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: The world is sweet and green (alluring) and verily Allah is going to install you as vicegerent in it in order to see how you act. So avoid the allurement of women: verily, the first trial for the people of Isri'll was caused by women. And in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Ibn Bashshar the words are:" So that He should see how you act."
Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 1: The Book of Faith (Kitab Al-Iman) Book 001, Number 0142: It is narrated on the authority of 'Abdullah b. Umar that the Messenger of Allah observed: O womenfolk, you should give charity and ask much forgiveness for I saw you in bulk amongst the dwellers of Hell. A wise lady among them said: Why is it, Messenger of Allah, that our folk is in bulk in Hell? Upon this the Holy Prophet observed: You curse too much and are ungrateful to your spouses. I have seen none lacking in common sense and failing in religion but (at the same time) robbing the wisdom of the wise, besides you. Upon this the woman remarked: What is wrong with our common sense and with religion? He (the Holy Prophet) observed: Your lack of common sense (can be well judged from the fact) that the evidence of two women is equal to one man, that is a proof of the lack of common sense, and you spend some nights (and days) in which you do not offer prayer and in the month of Ramadan (during the days) you do not observe fast, that is a failing in religion. This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu Tahir with this chain of transmitters.

Translation of Sahih Muslim, Book 8: The Book of Marriage (Kitab Al-Nikah) Book 008, Number 3471: Abu Huraira (Allah be pleased with him) reported Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: Had it not been for Eve, woman would have never acted unfaithfully towards her husband.
From Imam Ghazali “Women are half devils” (Ref: 7.vol. II, p367) Someone once said: "The devil says to women: 'You are half my army! You are my arrow with which I do not miss! You are my confidante! You are my messenger with whom I achieve my wants!' Thus half of his army is desire, the other half being anger."
Sahih Muslim, Book 36: The Book of Heart-Melting Traditions (Kitab Al-Riqaq) The Title for Chapter 1: MAJORITY IN PARADISE WOULD CONSIST OF THE POOR PIOUS PERSONS AND THE MAJORITY OF THE DENIZENS OF HELL WOULD CONSIST OF WOMEN, AND THE TRIAL BY MEANS OF WOMEN

So what's your point? Here's the Bible on women. And this is just Genesis. I can give you 200 more if you'd like a long email.
"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak.... And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home." -- 1 Corinthians 14:34-5
Genesis God fashions a woman out of one of Adam's ribs. This was necessary since Adam couldn't find a "help meet" in any of the animals that God made for him. 2:20-22 Adam blames Eve and Eve blames the serpent. 3:12-13 God punishes Eve, and all women after her, with the pains of childbirth and subjection to men. 3:16 Lamech is the first of a long line of biblical men with more than one wife. It seems that God approves of such marriages. 4:19, 23 Finally, sometime in the next 800 years, Adam begat some daughters. These nameless ones are the first (and nearly the last) girls to be born in the Bible. Maybe the rest of the women were made from male ribs. 5:4 "The male and his female ..." Notice that in the Bible female animals are the property of male animals, as women are the property of men. 7:2 Abram makes his wife lie for him, by telling the Egyptians that she is his sister. But at least it was half-true, since she was his half-sister. Such incestuous marriages are condemned elsewhere in the Bible, but god makes an exception for Abram and Sarai. (See Gen.17:15-16 where God blesses their marriage.) 12:13 Sarai is the first of a long line of barren women who were desperate for children. (In the Bible, it is the women who are barren, never the men.) She sends Abram into her handmaid, Hagar, so that she can "obtain children by her." Abram gladly complies. 16:1-4 Sarah, who is about 90 years old and has gone through menopause, laughs at God when he tells her that she will have a son. She asks God if she will "have pleasure" with her "Lord" [Abraham], when both are so very old. God assures her that he will return and impregnate her at the appointed time. 18:11-14 Lot refuses to give up his angels to the perverted mob, offering his two "virgin daughters" instead. He tells the bunch of angel rapers to "do unto them [his daughters] as is good in your eyes." This is the same man that is called "just" and "righteous" in 2 Pet.2:7-8. 19:8 Lot's nameless wife looks back, and God turns her into a pillar of salt. 19:26 Honest Abe does the same "she's my sister" routine again, for the same cowardly reason. And once again, the king just couldn't resist Sarah -- even though by now she is over 90 years old. (See Gen.12:13-20 for the first, nearly identical, episode.) 20:2 God gets angry with king Abimelech, though the king hasn't even touched Sarah. He says to the king, "Behold, thou art but a dead man," and threatens to kill him and all of his people. To compensate for the crime he never committed, Abimelech gives Abraham sheep, oxen, slaves, silver, and land. Finally, after Abraham "prayed unto God," God lifts his punishment to Abimelech, "for the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah." 20:3-18 Abraham had several concubines. 6: 26:7 Isaac uses the same "she's my sister" lie that his father used so effectively (see Gen.12:13, 20:2). 26:7 Once again, like Sarah and Rebekah before her, Rachel is barren. 29:31 "Give me children or else I die." Rachel considers herself worthless if she cannot produce children for her husband. 30:1 But luckily she has an idea. She says to Jacob, "Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her." She solved the problem the same way as did Sarah (16:2). 30:3 Leah, not to be outdone, gives Jacob her maid (Zilpah) "to wife." And Zilpah "bare Jacob a son." 30:9 31:17 "Then Jacob ... set his ... wives upon camels." Jacob had four wives (or two wives and two concubines -- this distinction is not clear in the Bible): Rachel, Leah, Billah, and Zilpah. There is no indication that God disapproves of this arrangement. (See also Gen.32:22) 31:17 31:34-35 Laban, Rachel's father, is hunting for the "images" that Rachel had stolen from him. Rachel sits on the "images" and says to her father, "Let it not displease my lord that I cannot rise up before thee: for the custom of women is upon me." She knows that no man will come near her when she is menstruating. 31:34-35 Dinah, the daughter of Jacob, is "defiled" by a man who seems to love her dearly. Her brothers trick all of the men of the town and kill them (after first having them all circumcised), and then take their wives and children captive. 34:1-31 Dinah's brothers, to justify the massacre of a town for the rape of their sister, say: "Should he deal with our sister as with a harlot?" To the author of Genesis, rape is clearly a crime against the honor of men rather than against a woman. 34:31 Rachel dies in childbirth; but at least she had another son. And in the Bible, a woman is expected to die happily as long as she has a son. 35:17-18 "Reuben went and lay with his father's concubine." I wonder why God wants to tell us about it. Maybe he figures that "inquiring minds want to know." 35:22 Esau (Isaac's son) had several wives (continuing the tradition of polygamy, with no editorial comment from the Bible). One of his wives, according to 36:2, was Adah the daughter of Elon, but in 26:34 her name is given as Bashemath the daughter of Elon. Yet verse 3 says Bashemath is the daughter of Ishmael. 36:2, 6 "And Judah saw there a daughter of a certain Canaanite ... and he took her, and went in unto her. And she conceived, and bare a son; and she called his name Er. And she conceived again [I guess Judah must have went in unto her again] and bare a son; and she called hi name Onan." (It seems that the probability of having a biblical daughter is considerably less than 50%.) 38:2-4 After Judah pays Tamar for her services, he is told that she "played the harlot" and "is with child by whoredom." When Judah hears this, he says, "Bring her forth, and let her be burnt." 38:24

sloriver,
Yes, post it all for us too see. It is important to discredit one hate-filled book using another hate-filled book.
After you're done posting all the biblical anti-women verses::::
1. Please provide proof showing the christian church [of today] using such verses in support of the practice of keeping women inferior & the beating of women.
2. Please provide proof showing the christian church [of today] where they use such verses in supporting the act of women-slavery & prostitution and wife-swapping.
3. Please provide proof showing the christian church [of today] where they support polygomy (often involving 6 year old girls).
.
You have your job now of providing people with the hatred given to us from the christian bible, and I'll continue with the Islamic version of hatred.
Cool!

All the sayings (ahadith) of Proohet Muhammad are not free from being tampered, distorted and fabricated. It is evident that all the sayings which you have quoted are 'weak' sayings. They do not portray the true Islamic opinion on women.
Unbiased scholars have termed Prophet Muhammad as pro-women, some even calling him a feminist. His first wife, Khadijah, had her own business. He encouraged women to own property and testify in court, he stopped the cruel Arabian practice of burying new-born females alive. He liberated women in several other ways, such as:
1.General: No male can tell a woman what to do unless he is a father, brother, husband or a son. That simply excludes the modern day vice policing going on around the Muslim world these days.
2. Marriage: Unless a woman doesn't consent to a marriage she cannot be wed to someone.
3. Divorce: A woman can seek divorce even on the grounds that her husband is not able to sexually full fill her desires. Divorce though a permissible act is least liked by Allah, yet a woman can seek divorce on virtually any grounds.
4. Dowry: There is no concept of Dowry to be given by women but in fact women are given Dowry in Islam.
5. Housekeeping: A Muslim woman's right is to have all the Housekeeping done. If Husband cannot afford it, then he is supposed to do it himself. Of course if a woman does it for her husband, then it is an extra deed of her which she didn't have to do. This even means that she has no duty to take care of her husband's parents or family. That is his duty not hers. If she doesn't do it she is not committing a sin.
6. Child care: If a mother breastfed her own child, it is still an extra deed she is doing for her husband! She can even claim pay for this.
7. Countering accusation: If a woman is accused of adultery by her husband, her one testimony invalidates the accusation.
Islam contradicts the Christian belief that Eve led Adam to eat the forbidden fruit. The Qur'an says that the decision was mutual as Satan deceived them.
Islam also contradicts the belief that women were created from a man's rib and hence are crooked by nature. This is nowhere mentioned in the Holy Qur'an. These texts were inserted into the 'hadith' books later by Christian/Jews in the garb of Muslims, to discredit the pure teachings of Prophet Muhammad.
The Qur'an also does not claim that menstruation/labour pain in women is a punishment for the mistake made in Heavens! It is simply a natural phenomenon.
The following is an account of Adam and Eve's story in the Quran:
"O Adam dwell with your wife in the Garden and enjoy as you wish but approach not this tree or you run into harm and transgression. Then Satan whispered to them in order to reveal to them their shame that was hidden from them and he said: 'Your Lord only forbade you this tree lest you become angels or such beings as live forever.' And he swore to them both that he was their sincere adviser. So by deceit he brought them to their fall: when they tasted the tree their shame became manifest to them and they began to sew together the leaves of the Garden over their bodies. And their Lord called unto them: 'Did I not forbid you that tree and tell you that Satan was your avowed enemy?' They said: 'Our Lord we have wronged our own souls and if You forgive us not and bestow not upon us Your Mercy, we shall certainly be lost' " (Quran 7:19:23).
The Holy Qur'an is the primary text that is followed by Muslims of all denominations. It is a book which is understood by the Muslims to be divinely inspired. The Holy Qur'an addresses men and women together and nowhere does it even hint towards male superiority. It is only in the fabricated sayings of Prophet Muhammad, that one finds such rubbish, which is totally against true Islamic teachings.
