It is Friday, October 24th. There are eleven days until the election. Tomorrow I plan to cast my very important early vote. Casting a vote has never really mattered this much to me before. It seems like forever since I started supporting Senator Obama. I carefully placed the Obama sign in my yard before the Primary. I can remember shaking my head “no” to the Hillary supporters who wanted me to honk my horn as I passed them standing along the streets in our town. I’m a West Virginia lady. I was born and raised in this state. I’ve never been political in my life. I grew up during the Kennedy years. I watched America put the first man on the moon when I was in the fifth grade. This presidential campaign reminds me of those years. It has that type of excitement that has been lacking since those years. Today I taught school all day and did some tutoring after school. I’m really tired but, I jumped on the internet when I got home to catch up on campaign news. Friends for Obama in West Virginia keep me updated. I turned on CNN to listen, also. Biden was in West Virginia today. I am hoping that he influenced some folks to vote Obama today. Things are looking positive in the poles. But, I’m not cocky I don’t doubt for one minute that things could go in the opposite direction. This has been a battle all the way. Yet, it is amazing in these difficult economic times that simple small town folks like me can take solace in the hope the Obama campaign brings.
Now, enter this dream I’m allowing myself to have. It is the day after the election and things are wonderful. Barack Obama has captured the Presidency of The United States. I’m so happy that I did my little bit to make this a reality. I have downloaded my Obama songs and am listening to them while watching the celebrating on T.V. My young sixteen year old daughter is with me. It is this very private world I live in and yet, my life has been touched. Through the internet the Obama campaign has entered my life everyday. I have blogged till I’m blue in the face. I have three Obama shirts, two hats, and two Obama buttons. I have worn them to school often. Now, I will watch his acceptance speech. It will be a great speech. He makes many great speeches. I could listen to him over and over. I can’t wait to see Michelle and those beautiful children. There are tears in my eyes. Finally, the day has come. What a great day in history this is! I can’t rest I’m so excited. I think of the millions of people on the internet that feel the same as I. Obamanites they have called us all. I will forever be an Obamanite. Whoops, wake up!
There are eleven days left and it is comforting to dream. I dream about dancing at the Ignaural Ball or actually, being at the Ignauration. What a fantasy! I live in West Virgina. It is a world away from all of this. But, I will read about it in a magazine or find an article on the internet. The campaign has entered my life and my mind. Just as I teach about Martin Luther King and John Kennedy I can teach about Barack Obama. I still wonder if West Virginia will be blue on Election Day? Tomorrow I will cast my vote with “hope” that Barack Obama will become President Barack Obama on November 4th. 2008.

This free email message was sponsored by JDate If you are to judge him find some type of wise way to do it, like campaign issues. Don't judge the character of the man. You can take anybody's personality and call them a pig, whop, whatever. I teach young children. I have really been ashamed of the way John McCain's campaign has called him names. If anything negative comes from the Obama side it honestly isn't from him. He has asked his supporters to refrain from this. Besides, the only reason he began to defend himself was because other Democrats were speaking up and forcing him to have come backs to these smears. He has been accused of sexism, being a Communist, Socialist, Muslim, not American. Yet, when asked in the religious group meeting what he wanted to promote he said; "I am my brother's keeper". He quoted God's word. If he were Muslim he would say he was. He wouldn't be ashamed or have to be ashamed of it. He is not Muslim, he is Christian. Besides, don't you realize the more smears like this he has had to confront and cope with, the stronger he has looked in the eyes of the people. What other man could lead us with the tolerance and calmness he has shown in these times of great economic woes. Since you are not a supporter, you can not see how well he has organized groups from every walk of life in America. I am an early childhood educator. Jill Biden speaks for us. It is exciting to look forward to all the possible changes. We definitely need change in this country. It won't come from the man but, it will come from the people with the right leadership. I have observed the character of this man. I didn't gullably accept him. He earned my vote by the way he conducted himself throughout this election. Try to open your eyes to the real truth. I could call you names or anyone names. In high school years ago girls used to be called tramps. Sometimes these people were put down because others couldn't bring them down any other way. They had to attack the character of the person with lies. Obama has been a United States Senator. As a teacher I had to be fingerprinted, prove I was a citizen, show I had no criminal past. Do you think Senators are put through none of this? Be reasonable, he has gone through intelligence or his campaign would have been stopped from day #1. I cannot influence you to vote but, if he does win this election I hope you will accept him as your leader and work with others to make some changes that are positive for our country. We can disagree without all this name stuff.

Thank you for your reply. I was expecting to hear from someone negative and am very ready to answer for Obama. As a teacher I look forward to the new reforms in education he will organize. I can already see how well he has organized his campaign with multiple groups across this great country. I'm an early childhood teacher. He has already said in several speeches how he will begin with early childhood. I am older but, these things do influence the young student teachers under me. We make very little in WV. Yet, somehow we find ways to make our salaries stretch to help at the food pantries or put clothes on the child that has needs. It is a shame that some of Palin's clothing money couldn't have gone to serve the poor. I have never given money to political campaigns but, I have given to Obama. Sometimes, stretching the extra $25.00. It is a shame it all has to be spent on fighting in the campaign when he should already be so far ahead. There are so many needs in this great country. I see them everyday in my job. The day I canvassed for him was an eye opener. I saw the way some of my children live and my heart fell to my stomach. Tomorrow he is in Pittsburgh which is about a couple of hours from me. I'm taking a day and going. I was hoping he would be in WV but, it is more important for him to win Pennsylvania right now. We can never stop fighting. We pray, we fight, we seek comfort in a time when everyone knows America needs a leader who will organize the people. Obama can't do this alone. He needs the people and I think in time we will all work for him. People of all races, colors, generations. He is the only candidate that deserves to lead us.
