Christians are supposed to never lie... that's what the preachers say...

Yet..... they also tell their congregation that:

- God is more present in a church than outside
- one has to tithe..... (buying our salvation ? .....)... or else....
- one's children must go to Sunday school or they won't be "saved"
- one needs to attend a "healing ceremony" in their church for being healed from sickness
- one cannot understand the Bible without their (the preachers') explanations
- one has to talk in weird noises (supposedly tongues) for being a real Christian
- they sing "Holy Spirit come", forgetting that He is already there...

Filled with the knowledge that these are the lies I'm told in order to go to church and throw my money into their offering plate, I decided to skip today....

And my son and I will not be halfway in hell for that...

Good for you!

More people who know the truth, the closer we can all get to leading an authentic, truthful life.

Don't know where you are getting your information at, but my pastor does not say nothing at all like the comments you just blogged about.

- God is more present in a church than outside
For one, God is not in a church just because it is a church. He comes with the people who bring Him with them.

- one has to tithe..... (buying our salvation ? .....)... or else....
No amount of tithes can buy your salvation. You can not buy your way into heaven.

- one needs to attend a "healing ceremony" in their church for being healed from sickness
I was healed in the hospital. Far cry from a church. Don't know who believes this either, although the Bible does say to call for the elders of the church to pray for them. But you don't have to be at church to receive it.

- one cannot understand the Bible without their (the preachers') explanations
God can speak to everyone through a "rhema" word if they would but listen. Most people will not take the time to read the Bible.

- one has to talk in weird noises (supposedly tongues) for being a real Christian
Tongues does not save a person. Belief in Jesus and His blood does.

- they sing "Holy Spirit come", forgetting that He is already there...
Everyone likes to be invited, the Holy Spirit is no different.

Filled with the knowledge that these are the lies I'm told in order to go to church and throw my money into their offering plate, I decided to skip today....
Someone has told you untruths, and it was not a Christian. Every true Christian knows better than this.

And my son and I will not be halfway in hell for that...
Anyone who would judge you because you stayed home, needs to repent themselves for judging you.

ky...

I wish I could come to your church.

Most pastors I've ever been to their church preached at least 2 of the lies cited in my blog. And.... well.... I'm getting so tired of the supposed "wrath of God" that is waiting for me and my son right around the corner....

There was/is ONE preacher I know who did not tell those lies....

Yours are the words of a lost man. No one goes to heaven except through the Blood Of Christ. Tithes are a commandment from God not the Pastor. Yes, even the Born Again still sin, because they are not perfect..Just Saved. If you can't go back to a time and place in your life, where you called on the name of the Lord, confessed your sins and ask Him to come into your heart and forgive those sins, then my friend you are bound for hell. As far the need goes to be in Church,God said not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together with other believers.Of course in every religion, there are people who just play Church, but fortunatly we all only stand before God for what we have done in our mortal bodies. If you need further assistiants in finding God email me and I will help you.

ky, I'm in complete agreement with your statements above....and, ya know what....I'm a Jew...attending a Lutheran Mission Church where the preacher specifically says that the "building" is NOT the church...that the church is within us...wherever we gather.

This was at the dedication to our new building...a 200 year old building we restored. Until that time we met at a funeral parlor, outside in a field, at a park in the picnic grove.....I saw that WE brought the "church" with them wherever we were.

Today was Reformation Sunday (something new to me), but as our friends, Presbyterians, whom we meet with often, and combine our Bible School classes with, joined two congregations together for worship and then fellowship, I realize EXACTLY where "Church" is....and, the one I attend has room for all....They are overjoyed to have me among them....I am the official "JEWTHERAN" and I love it.

Many of you know that I recently returned from my College trip to Israel, in conjunction with my Comparative Religions classes. Along with my books and pictures, even the Jewtheran has helped the rest of the class get the feeling of "having been there".... Both the Old Testament and the New Testament spring to life over there.

Fondly,

i have been in a "church" four times for funerals ((( two nieces, one b-i-law, one young friend))), in the last seven or eight years. no weddings, no Holy days, no other special days of the years. i do stop and light candles at a shrine dedicated to the patron saint of cancer, mentioning a list of people suffering from ANY physical sicknesses. i get peace of mind from walking the grounds ( not neccessarily the prayer paths), at the crossin the woods set on ten or twelve acres. is it the religon or the nature part of the walks? don't know, don't care. my GOD listens to my rambling, wherever i am. i hope.

Don't know where you are getting your information at, but my pastor does not say nothing at all like the comments you just blogged about.

There's a whole bunch of scumbag scammers passing themselves off as men/women of your god saying all the things in this blog and more...many being much worse...

You can see a whole slew of them on TV...just check out your cable's religious channel(s)...or most any regular channel any Sunday morning...

alive....

just check out your cable's religious channel

... heck, NO.... I do not want to give the "gift" to their ministry... in order to buy my salvation....?

I can't stand the greed they attach to the Christian faith....
Jesus didn't ask for anything like that....
and he did not tell us to do it now.... (or at least I didn't find such things in my Bible...)

There are so many knock-off religions calling themselves "Christian", just as there are knock-off diamonds, Rolexes & designer purses. They're all a dime a dozen & not worth it. It's too bad those alleged Christian preachers give true Christians a bad name.
