I wish I could sit among the clouds, If only for a time, To watch below this crazy world, And observe this life of mine,
How differently we see things, When looking from afar, It all looks so much clearer The further away we are,
I could watch the people live their lives, And see how things go wrong, Decisions made and then wishing they’d known it all along.
Words said in haste or passion, Never meaning to offend, Yet picking up the pieces And a broken heart to mend.
A moments thought, an act so swift, No time to think it through, But there is always a lifetime left, To regret the things we do.
The road we travel has twists and turns, We can’t see the view ahead, Yet we do not travel carefully, We just cope with outcomes instead,
I could see her sat there crying, Her husband’s left, she cheated, A moments decision, an act of lust, Now alone she cries defeated.
I could watch the mother who left her child, “It was only for an hour” now the taste of that decision, Is unbearable and sour.
I could watch him click that button, For just an hour of porn, Computer confiscated, now hes in a cell forlorn,
I could see the politician, Who declared another war, Based on greed and power, But the dead he never saw.
How clearer it would seem to me, If I sat high up in the sky, To watch the world from way up there, And see our lives go by,
What’s around the corner for me, I really do not know, But in writing this I’ve taught myself, To be steady as I go.
I wish I could sit among the clouds, If only for a time, To watch below this crazy world, And observe this life of mine.
