I remember when i was little.......we did it twice a year......i cant remember if it was on the same dates we have now........because i was so little .....but i use to go around with my mom and change all the clocks forward one hour....and then.....later in the year....back one hour.....daylight savings time they called it....i use to ask my mom why we had to do it.....because to me......changing time just seemed so against the law or something....and i remember she never had a good enough answer for me....im not sure she even knew why we did it back then.....you see...my mom was a simple woman...from a simple family.....and me....being little...i always asked her things thinking she knew all the answers....i didnt even know why we had to change years.....as long as i could see a calender....i could understand why we had to change days and months......but when we changed years....it didnt seem any diffrent than the past year....i know i didnt feel any diffrent and i thought when you had to change something...you would.....well...for some reason....here in indiana....they stopped daylight savings time....and i thought it was a good idea.....why go around and change the clocks only to change them back again later.....so years later.....im a dad with kids.....and they vote DST back in.....im not sure how it got back in....everybody i know was kind of pissed off that they did......so like my mom did for me.....i took both my kids around with me and changed all the clocks in the house.....my son is almost four years older than my daughter....so in school...they told him we changed time for many reasons......mainly for business around us....so they would be able to work with each other and when they changed time...so would we....plus...in the summer ....it would give us more daylight time to be outside.....and then.....i also heard something about the farmers and those who golf.....so my kids never questioned as to why we did it.....so i get up at about 5:20am this morning......but you see......after i go around and change all the clocks back one hour...its really 4:20am.....and instead of feeling awake.....im feeling like its still kind of the middle of the nite again.....and i should still be in bed......so you see.....nothings really changed for me.....i still feel strange having to mess with the clocks twice a year.....for me......it just seems so against the law......cookie

why they do not leave the clocks alone? I feel sorry for these guys that have the hobby of collecting clocks these people have like....200 clocks....and they like to change the hour on each and every one of them.....

this years daylight savings time was just too stupid for words.
all it did was mess up the computer and tv clocks that were set for the old dst.
now it's middle of night here and i'm wide awake.
like you, my friend, i think it's wrong.
*hands* you a cup of coffee. "cheers"

I loved living in Richmond, Indiana because we never changed the clocks. But over in Eaton and New Paris, Ohio they would. I was the assistant manager of the store where I worked and I had employees from there and it never failed that someone always came to work an hour early or an hour late, depending on whether it was time to "fall back" or "spring forward."

our weatherman said the main reason for DST is for the safety of school kids at bus stop and walking to school.,but congress had the idea it would save money if we did it earlier a couple years ago.,it only caused computer problems and ended up losing money i think., who'da thunk it

All I know is that I'm sitting here at the computer, reading all this stuff, because, after I got up and ready to leave for church, I remembered that I forgot to change my watch last night before going to bed.
I suppose it's a good thing, I never seem to get enough time to read all the blogs in here.
My computer says 8:56am...that's what time my watch says now. It must be an automatic change, I didn't change anything on the computer.

I can tell you that as a former wife of a farmer, DST isn't for the farmers at all. It only means that they have to stay out there in the fields later in the day,and never get to eat dinner with their families. By the time they come in for the night, the kids are in bed, and they're served warmed overs.

For the record, cookie, I think it's kinda crazy, too.... but part of the secret is this...ALWAYS set the clocks back before you go to bed...then this getting up before 4:30 deal won't happen again!

that's one of the best bonues of living in HELL aka Arizona---we dont change our clocks!!!!!!!!! We just float from PST to MST and back each spring and fall.
Does mess up alot of folks though from the East coast such as my company's Tampa office or a family member who forgets it has changed (an old roomie's mom called my house once at 04:00am b/c it was 7:00am in NY---she was ever so apologetic.lol)
