To those who think the world is going to end because the people voted in President Elect Obama....
I have read many reasons, excuses and idiotic comments on here over the previous months regarding this man and it amazes me how two-faced and prejudicial some Americans can be. This country currently has a Govenor who was not only not born in the USA but who still speaks with a heavy foriegn accent yet is well respected and well liked....why....probably because he is white.
Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger (German IPA: [?a?n?lt alo?s '?va?ts?n?g?]; born July 30, 1947) is an Austrian-American bodybuilder, actor, businessman, and politician, currently serving as the 38th Governor of the state of California. Now, I don't recall that when Arnie entered the political scene that anyone commented that he was from the same homeland as Hitler....and for good reason....he has no ties/connections etc to that madman. We now have a President Elect who is only half white and this upsets and scares many people....hmmmmm....the only other time I heard such hoopla about the color of a person's skin, thier heritage and religious affiliation was from Hitler during his attempt to create the perfect white race. Is anybody else seeing similarities here????

I suspect some people thought of a black president the way they think of doomsday -- inevitable, but something they hoped wouldn't happen until after they were dead.
Incidentally, I know you don't mean anything buy it, but I wince every time I read that he's "half white" -- as if you can carve someone up into their ethnic elements. There is no biological race, but it seems built into the language.

well said my friend....I got so tired of people trying to mke a big deal out of his race but I tried to be tolrant of these people because a ancestor of mine helped to write and signed a paper that gives all in America the right to speak what they feel.

Seems to me he actually won....rather handily too.
Which means the majority of Americans, black and white and everything in between don't think like that. The ones that do, are fading away. The color of ones skin is meaning less and less. The tears in the eyes of Jesse Jackson told us his kind of politics and his time is coming to an end. It is a new era. And he knows it. I think I even saw some envy there too.....very moving. This is a great country, sprinkled with some nut cases. I wouldn't focus on them too much. The body of this country is sound and of good cheer.
Which is why, even though I did not vote for him, I was still proud of President Elect Obama and of America last night. And of John McCain.
Now comes the hard part.

First, Arnold was voted in as Governor, not President; if he would have tried to run as president, then I would have a problem with him.
Second, I had no problem with Obama being half black. I have a problem with his politics.
We have people now thinking that he will pay their mortgages that they had the stupidity to sign in the first place. They should have paid a lawyer $200 to look over the mortgage papers before they signed for a $200k home. Then maybe they wouldn't be in this mess. Now my taxes will pay for their ignorance.
We are going to have more lazy people on welfare than ever before (black, white, mexican, etc.) So their goes more of my tax money to give to those that don't want to do anything for themselves.
IF he takes the military out of the Middle East in 16 months, we will be hit in America shortly thereafter. The terrorist are just biding their time right now. I see Obama shutting down more military bases. Taking our guns away. Then where will we be? In mass graves, because their will be too many people to bury at once.
I do hope all the Obama supporters will be happy in four years, but I sincerely doubt it.

Electing Obama is one of the best thing to ever happen to this country.
It ends the far left using the excuse of being held down, it helps to heal our relationships around the world because we won't always be forcing our ideas as being the only way to live, it teaches our children not to be judgmental, He is a responser not a reactor when it come to thinking how to resolve important issues and our youth can once again have faith in our govt.

There is one race - the human race.
The election was won by campaign promises of tax cuts.
Time will tell if it was a lie and we get tax increases.

Alas Obama has made a lot of promises without any fact as to specifics.
He in and of himself is not the real concern. The real concern is the extreme left liberals in the congress who now have total control. If he caves into the extreme left we all are in trouble. 13 Trillion currently outstanding as debt with 56 Trillion of obligated programs that are mandates on our back that we must fund.
More spending is not the answer, the redistribution of wealth is not the answer. The reduction of spending and unnecessary government programs is a real start along with the renegotiation of all of our trade agreements is.
If ever there was a time for a flat tax rather then the current progressive tax it is now while the over inflated values of homes is low. Our homes is the major savings means of Americans only because it provides a tax write off.
Where we are now has it's roots back to laws in 1977 and unless we alter the way things are done we will be back here again.

WAKE UP PEOPLE....this is 2008 America....not 1940 Germany Actually, Hitler's 'apparent genius' was due in part to the relative lack of education of the german people at that time, as well as their desperation... and yes, there are quite a few in 2008 America who share both traits as well as the attendant bigotries of those traits (racism, misogyny, homophobia, etc.), so I wouldn't be so quick to put that much distance between the two.
Case in point -- mysticlisa said: We are going to have more lazy people on welfare than ever before (black, white, mexican, etc.) So their goes more of my tax money to give to those that don't want to do anything for themselves. The problem with this is that in her last blog post here she indicated that she "barely scrape[s] in 10k a year to live on". Which means she doesn't even pay federal income taxes for other people to "live off of". In fact, if she ventures out of the house more than a couple of times a week, she probably takes advantage of more services and infrastructure than she contributes to... and that's the problem with poor, under-educated conservatives: they buy way too easily into the type of corporate propaganda that was used in Nazi Germany.

It ends the far left using the excuse of being held down, it helps to heal our relationships around the world because we won't always be forcing our ideas as being the only way to live It's not the left or right, or black or white that's being held down -- it's poor and working class people. Remember, 'without labor, there is no wealth', and without a business sector that daily wages class warfare against the poor and working class, there would be no redistribution of wealth upwards (ie, socialism for the rich). And Obama has has given every indication of doing what his corporate sponsors Demand of him.
As for "healing our relationships around the world because we won't be forcing our ideas as the only way to live" -- Obama will continue the same neo-liberal, globalist policies that his advisers have been pushing for decades... as well as staunch neo-conservative Joe Biden who wanted to go to war against Iraq way before we were attacked on 9-11. I'm afraid the military - as well as public tax dollars - will still be used to force our way into hostile foreign markets for the benefit of a few big corporations... war is money!

Well no need to worry there, he has already had one of his staff approach the UK and ask them if they will send in more troops in January along with more US troops to Afghanistan, so he's not coming out of it all yet, even tho I think he gave the impression he was. The UK refused saying theyre not sending any more in.

The UK refused saying theyre not sending any more in. He can't get the troops out. Another 'promise' based on emotion and not reality.
There is a myrid of reasons why.
But I will give another Joshua prediction.
In 6 months or less, our military will be challedged. And like the 'bailout' where millions of Americans said no, but was ignored, they will have yet another look like a deer caught in the headlights.

When it comes to who will lead our country, I don't look at skin color. I could care less if they are white, black, purple or green. I look at what kind of experience the opposing candidates have, what did they accomplish, what their issues are and their voting history. I didn't like what I saw with Obama. He used fear that if you voted for McCain, you would get 4 more years of the same last 8. He couldn't have been more wrong. Obama voted to raise taxes nearly 70 times in the 18 months he was in the Senate and that included on those who incomes were $42,000. That is a lot when he was in the Senate for only 18 months. I find it hard to believe that people ignored the facts, they ignored the fact that he entered a shady land deal and all he said about it was, he made a mistake and shouldn't have done that. The people he associates himself with are either racists or terrorists. I don't care if he was only 8 years old when Ayers was bombing court houses and such, he was an adult when he met him. Ayers said that not enough people died on 9-1-1 and you can't tell me Obama never knew. Of course he knew. When the trouble with Fanny Mae and Freddy Mac came out, it wasn't Obama who stopped everything to try and help fix the problem. It was McCain who was willing to put his campaign on hold, returned to Washington to help fix the problem, proving he only cares about the American people. Obama cared only about himself. He didn't go back to Washington until he was forced to. I will guarantee you, Obama will raise all of our taxes. He has to in order to spread the wealth and give hard earned money to the lazy people who would rather sit on their tushes and collect money. Well, since Obama made $4 million, he can start spreading his wealth my way. That National Health care plan of his, guess what, he will have to raise taxes in order to make it pay off. And to cut health care cost? Are you kidding me? At what cost to patient care? I worked in the health care field for 9 years and I have seen the changes. I have seen people released from the hospital 2 days after surgery. That isn't long enough to recuperate. I will tell you one thing, I was insulted when he refused to put his hand over his heart while the National Anthem was played. All because he didn't like some of the words in it. That was a load of b.s. Nor would he wear the flag pin. He was a US senator, he should have been wearing it. Now that he is president, start looking to see if he starts to wear it. I'll bet he won't be. Mark my words, he is going to change the way the flag looks, (I already heard he wants to change our flag), and he will either change the National Anthem or he will have the words changed. When he didn't like being asked the hard questions during interviews, of either him or Biden, then he freezes out those news stations. When Joe the Plumber asked one simple question and after getting the answer he said that sounds too much like socialism, (which it is), and Joe decided not to vote for Obama, one of the Democrats started to investigate him, which was illegal, which also smacks of communism. Just think, anything you say against Obama, you will be investigated. Obama is just like most politicians. Say anything to the American people, tell them exactly what they want to hear and they will vote for anybody. Start to expect your gas prices to go up, taxes go up and your electric to sky rocket. He even made the point of saying he will purposely bankrupt the coal industry. That is why I didn't vote for Obama. I want to continue to enjoy my freedom and with him, we won't. If he pulls our troops out to early from Iraq, cut military personnel, you can bet your bottom dollar we will get attacked again. Obama isn't ready to lead and I predict, he won't be in office very long. JMO

WOW....and the debate continues....despite the fact that the people have spoken....this blog was not intended to create a forum for people to voice negatives or positives about Obama but to promote togetherness as a country of Americans who strive to remain unified as one. It is the knee jerk reaction of so many to jump in and force thier opinions as right among others, regardless of whether it is the right time or place or not, that creates anti-Americanism in many parts of the world. It is not a result of the politicians so much as a result of the average person traveling the world attempting to invoke thier views as the only right ones that creates the riff.

Chicken Little doesn't stop running around yelling 'THE SKY IS FALLING' until Chicken Little is eaten by Foxy Loxey who knows how to manipulate the fear of Chicken Little and all those she's whipped into a mass hysteria.
So...I'm guessing...the hysteria isn't going to stop in any foreseeable future. It certainly hasn't lessened all that much today. We will continue to hear "THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!" until gods put Chicken Little, Henny Penny and friends, out of their misery and let the sky fall in on em.
I mean...I've been listening to that fear since Vietnam and my uncle was convinced I was working for the Soviet Union in my resistance to the US war. It crests every 4 years, and changes the piece of the sky that will fall, but whipping up hysteria is whipping up hysteria.
I just wish Foxy Loxey the best of luck...
