Peeking out from around the corner Letting the dust settle some, I think I will sneak in a late night blog.
I don't know what to think about the state of the nation. Everyone has hope for Obama, and hope is a good thing.
But most of you know my political thinking was not along the two party line. I am more than a little concerned about the polarization that is happening. First it was the damn two party politics, and now race is being pushed into it.
For me, the best thing about this election was/is the republicans took a pretty good beating. It was about time, but if you want to see change here in America, it is time to see a third party come in, and I am not talking aabout the same politicians jumping ship from the republican platform and renaming themselves to wipe the smear off from the Bush administration.
I think now with having only one party so strong, it is not going to be beneficial. To many of them are "old school" and will push an old agenda. That old agenda is what alot of the polarization is about.
That is why what we think, do and say is more important now than ever. If everyone just goes back to their prospective couch and waits for the government to to take the lead, we are going to have more of a mess because nothing really will have changed. Except the numbers that come out to vote on election day.
If you do not stay active, calling, writing your congress people, they are to do just what they have always done, and right now there are to many messes to clean up for them to just start signing off on stuff without our input.
This is not about Obama and his campaign promises. This is about an established government that has run amuck with no oversite from the constiuents for way to long. They, the politicians, are not going to want to see us, the constiuents, upset the apple cart, and if you want change, and you really want to support Obama, you better get ready to stay active. Because sure as I am sitting here they will set him up for failure just to have someone to point the finger of blame at. If you haven't already seen enough of that to know what I am saying is true then all your bitchin about all the blogging lately was for not. The blame game is rampant right now.
Why do I think they are setting him up for failure?........ Where is Bush these days? Nice press release saying he was staying low for the McCain campaign, but not even a quick congradulatory speech? A quick quip over a dinner party "God blessing whoever won the election"? Congress not is session for a month, This mess occured on His watch and he is mysteriously absent. What did he just not get out of his pajamas and just decide not to go to work today? The economy is a mess, Paulson and Bernake in charge are like leaving foxes in the hen house. OMG with checking account privledges. The DOD and Rice in charge of foreign policy and the wars?
He needs to get his ass out front and center and at least feign an attempt to hand something besides shreds over to Obama. Because otherwise it looks like a sour grapes "I am going to set you up right down to the wire on the finish line".
I know you all have great hope for Obama, but this mess is going to require real transition not just a household move. His transition team needs to be in place and ready to rock and roll. If the sour grapes attitude prevails, chit be going to hit the fan soon, and somebody needs to be at the helm. Things could be more than messy by January.
So I am going to say this again....DON'T think that now that the election is over, YOUR part is done.... You really want to back this guy get ready to start supporting him and being vocal with your congressmen and senators because he is going to be handed more problems than carter has little pills.

There have been three parties before. It didn't work. The problem is two of the parties will always be similar enough that the other party will gain power. The similar parties will split the vote that is their base. That's why the Whigs disappeared. The collapse of the Whigs put the two remaining parties back on an equal footing. No, i'm not old enough to remember. lol
During the 1850s, the sectional tensions that led to the Civil War tore the Whigs apart. Abraham Lincoln was a Whig when he served in Congress from 1847 to 1849. But by the time he ran for president in 1860, he was something new: a "Republican." This new Republican Party quickly replaced the Whigs as the principal opposition to the Democratic Party. It's been Republicans vs. Democrats ever since.

Well Slo The people of this country voted for change, if they really, really want it, then they need to take the steps to affect it. We have lost control of so many factors of governing this country if we don't do something to rattle the cages of the powers that be, we will have lost the principles this country was founded on.
I heard Obama speak of the blood of his ancestors, well I don't think there are many of us that have not lost a family member to a war fought by this country. are we as a country willing to sacrifice that blood to, JP Morgan, Monsanto, Exxon?
Maybe three parties don't work for long but maybe they would work long enough to rattle the cages of the status quo.
