A door is what a dog is perpetually on the wrong side of. ~Ogden Nash Over the last 10 months or so, Oz, The Great and Powerful has proven himself to be one extraordinary creature.
As some may remember, a few of us went through quite an ordeal looking for his name. Some of you were dead set on boB but I was not gonna be calling Oz, The Great and Powerful, boB. No way....no how. But I do appreciate all the help.
This November 14th he will be 11 months old. That's almost 7 years old in human time. Never have I had a dog who so easily fit into the Family....so quickly. Like he was always ready to be here with me and Jake. Us three are "da boys." I know one thing....whoever said you couldn't buy happiness, forgot about puppies.
He spends his days and nights outside, by his own choosing. Summer was a little tough on him at times, as he is a Siberian Husky, but it was a short summer this year. Now is his time. I used to worry a little, or maybe wonder, about just how cold he liked it, until I realized he loves to roll on his back in the snow, thrashing his legs about, and talking about it all. He thrives when it is cold....to me that makes him awesome.
I like to go out and sit on the back porch with a hot cup of coffee in the mornings all bundled up in my sweats and hoody, and discuss things with him. Somehow he always is able to turn it into a game, no matter how serious I am trying to be.
One time I went out back on the porch after a snowstorm had blown through. It was cold....really cold, but sunny. And he was curled up in the yard, almost buried in the drifts. Oz, of course got up and meandered over to see if i had anything good to munch on, and when I put my hand on his head and back, I marveled at how warm his coat was, from the sun. He was out there just soaking it up. He loves his Dogloo too and rests in it during the cold nights. He does not like it inside the house except when I first get home in the evening. He likes to help with dinner I think. Actually, he sprawls out in the middle of the kitchen floor, right in the way of course, and patiently waits for something to "come his way." He doesn't really eat all that much. Not as much as I thought he would. I think he is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to 99 cents a can. That's almost $7.00 in dog money.
Our walks in the park have been nothing short of spectacular this fall, as I walk with the King of Frolic. I always get back to the house after time spent with him feeling better about everything.
I love to watch Jake ride his longboard behind Oz, The Great and Powerful..... pulling him ever faster down the sidewalk or on the bike path down by the river. What a pair! I love the way this dog is teaching my son loyalty, perseverance, ....... and to turn around three times before lying down.
The love I am developing for this friend of mine is what I am trying so hard to describe here. I struggle with the task. Too many words. He does it with a simple wag of his tail. Everytime I see him.
I have so much to learn.
I talk to him when I'm lonesome like; and I'm sure he understands. When he looks at me so attentively, and gently licks my hands; then he rubs his nose on my tailored clothes, but I never say naught thereat. For the good Lord knows I can buy more clothes, but never a friend like that. ~W. Dayton Wedgefarth

Fabulous blog, Tunes. You could make a dog lover out of Colette** with this sort of enchanting prose.
After all, Oz aspires to live up to his namesake, but you have become The Wizard of Words...
