I own ONE cat. Don't want a debate about cats owning us or vise versa, that's not the point. One of the cats residing in my home is cared for by moi. I take her to the vet...support her and she in turn sleeps on the foot of my bed nightly. When my middle child leaves home she says she's taking her with...ok by me. Two other cats live in my house. My oldest who if she were as smart as her SAT and Suma Cum Laude status would indicate would be OUT of my house by now. But no, she instead resides with momma. Along with her two cats and one dog. (in my family pets are family and a life time committment).
So, here's the problem. NO CAT FOOD. It began last night..."kiddo, did you notice we are down to the last bowl of food". "Yeah mom I did, it's gonna get ugly". You see, when we run out of food for a few hours the yowling begins, then the leg rubbing and the pitiful eyes beseaching us to explain why the food bowl does not runnith over. It's awful, one will chase us through the house nipping at our ankles he's the tiny one...weighing in at 16lbs, the monster is near 20 and can knock us over if he gets hungry enough. So, what the heck am I doing here...I'm going to the STORE before it's too late.
Have a good day...and wish me luck!~

DaisyMae420: in my family pets are family and a life time committment I wish all people who own pets had this very same view. I have four cats and a little dog, and they are my kids. I'm glad they are with me.
Don't want a debate about cats owning us or vise versa, that's not the point. No debate.
It's awful, one will chase us through the house nipping at our ankles he's the tiny one. Still no debate...............
Love it!

I have a group of strays that reside in my back yard. (Was originally seven, now down to five, or possibly four...) I feed them every day (and BOY can they eat...). They still regard me as the embodiment of evil...
Stray dogs would be easier to tame. But oh well. The cats are cuter...
(I just wish they wouldn't beat up my own cat, the vet bills are EXPENSIVE...)

I have 2 cats of my own and three grandcats that live with me. I definitely can attest to the angry looks if the food bowl gets empty.....Duke the Delinquent starts knocking things off the counters......

have to love those cats and dogs. If you ever worked around a shelter, it would break your heart to see how bad these animals are treated.

On the occation I run out of pet food, the rule is simple: I don't eat until they do.
Helps me, as a somewhat (okay, okay, extremely) irresponsible bachelor.

I've been known to stop everything and cook chicken for Elvis... (yeah, he's a hunk, a-hunk of purrin' love).
If I don't, he bites my legs and jumps into my arms and licks my face. Cute, but it's hard to get anything accomplished.
Oh, and - this is generally only when there is no canned cat food...

My cat was a true alley cat. He has scars, half a tooth missing, tip of one ear missing, and AIDS. Well, HIV. Somewhere in the world an ape screwed a cat evidently. They said he would only live for 4 years, but I've had him for 7 so far. He whines like hell when it's dinner time. Three tablespoons on soft food twice a day at 7:30. He'll only eat Kibbles-n-Bits or Meow Mix the rest of the day. Oh, and this time change? Really screws up his inner clock.

Oh WOW, Now I know that I'm not alone with all the antics from my cat. She sure is smart, she will not let up on the rubbing my legs and biting my toes....actually, she'll do ANYTHING to let me know she wants more food in her dish.
Actually, sometimes we have a standoff....When she starts this, I go to her bowl and look...there is usually at least ONE full meal left, but maybe she knows that she better start warning me early.
I feed her ONLY dry food.....advice from my Vet....but, I have a couple of cans of food in the cupboard, just in case I unexpectedly run out and can't get to the store immediately. When I come home with a new bag of food, I empty some into an old coffee can....enough for a few meals. When the supply is low enough to open that can, I KNOW it's time to put cat food on my shopping list.
I'm SURE that if Missy could write, she'd do it for me...
KK
By the way, she's sitting here at the front door, meowing for me to let her out (on harness and leash) so she can sit on the porch and watch the lizards scurry back and forth. You should have seen the expression on her face one day when she caught one and it's tail came off in her paw...
