A friend and I were having a conversation a few minutes ago. He asked me my opinion of a particular blog. My comment to him was "I think the man's delusional." Now, let's not get into the who's & what's that the chat was all about, except to say it was about a blog centered on a political topic.

I also read with interest the blog that cOuNtRyGiRl posted earlier entitled "Apparently I'm naive......" I didn't comment on her blog, but after the chat I just had with my friend, I thought I'd blog further on the subject.

I think one of the simplest ways for those of us to move on & stop seeing so many adverse politically centered blogs posted is to STOP TAKING THE BAIT! Really, doesn't it all equate back to another one of those dead horses? If we keep commenting on the blogs, giving the posters the attention, they will keep blogging on the subject.

Think about it? Going forward, I am done. I will not take another piece of bait thrown out there. Let them get their jollies from someone/somewhere else. Let's get back to having fun.... talking about our mundane lives & other more pleasant topics!

Once again...this is MY blog & it's MY opinion..though I know this opinion is shared with others here. As always, I am open to any and all comments....you just have to keep it nice!

Wise advice, missliss! I'll try to ignore the 'gloom and doom entertainment' on this dating site as well.

it is true what you say for some people have nothing better to do than to seek out verbal fights. They think it is funny; however, I do worry about the weak minded person who believes all this negative stuff and commits some type of evil deed.

Like go on a shooting spree.

I trhink we need to identify these people and put a stop to them before something happens. For if you read the reply bloggers, some agree with them.

It is always bad to say, I wish I had did something.

I guess the best thing is to get MD to stop the political, religion, and racial blogging.

Eek! No, no, no! Censorship bad!

STOP TAKING THE BAIT
Yes, much better plan!

There are those of us that are amused by it. To me, an argument has the potential to inform: not only by listening/analyzing what the opposition has to say, but also by being 'forced' into researching my own opinions.

Granted, such debates can devolve into name calling. I'm guilty of it, though I try to avoid it.

Either way...no one is forced to read or respond to it. Let us have our fun. ;-p

Actually... it's NOT censorship.
Matchdoctor has provided a place just for pissing and moaning all you want about politics... it's called Politics & Current Events

I was amazed at all the resistance I received when I blogged about it... >> HERE <<

I trhink we need to identify these people and put a stop to them before something happens.

The problem with that is they're saying the same about you. Freedom of speech is something I'll fight for. I don't agree with the super patriot conservatives but I'll never take away their right to express those opinions. Guard their rights and you guard yours.

Here's my sense of things...

Some blogs by certain characters, with their inflammatory titles and general inflammatory tenor, for one to get by them is like driving by car wrecks...

Do we really wanna see a person dangling through the windshield, decapitated...???

No...

Yes...

Well maybe..

Well I don't really wanna see it...at least I didn't think I would.

No...I don't. Really. Disgusting.

DAMN!! I SAW IT!

Now that I saw it...what do I do??

I can't just drive off...I'm a doctor...what do I do...what do I do..??

Do I stop?

Yes...

No!

Wait...I better...

you get the point....

It's getting easier and easier for me to resist stopping because more and more are locking dissent out. They prefer the soap box with a small affirming audience, most using the same sources of misinformation. Makes it easier I suppose for any author to mislead, misinterpret, and misunderstand.

Which leads me to thinking even about what I myself blog. I pulled away from the forums a couple of years ago because the venom, vitriol and rage was so prevalent in them. The web is too easy for the worse side of human interaction to come to the fore in the name of some charade of ideology, costumed in dark self-righteousness, and justified by "I have a right to my opinion..." whatever that right has to do with civility...

Life is too short to keep one's eyes on the yapping little dogs behind the fence, and to alter one's path because their bark is so loud, grating and irritating.

I had already reached a level of fatigue with trying to offer counterweight to the illogic or no logic. Now that the elections are done...and I've seen so many sad car wrecks, I'm ready to engage the future with the joy of this period, and let the corrosive nature of rage do its own thing to the vessels within which it is contained.

Peas on earth....

Personally, I can't but help to keep looking to see what the crazies have written next. I know I shouldn't, but it is compelling to see what the latest delusions are.

I don't comment, because, what's the point. Its not like they listen.

Hopefully, the political blogs will die down.

One of the crazies wrote a blog I found offensive, and I tried to report it to the mods. I am saddened to see it still here, and now on the MD front page. Not nice for new visitors to see.

Look, but don't talk to the inmates, I guess.

obeserved...I have to publicly say...AWESOME COMMENT!
You've hit the nail on the head.

As so many have pointed out...it is the right of anyone in America to say/post whatever their thoughts are.....and it's my right to not read it. But some times it is so darn hard to just turn the other cheek.

How many times can one person write the same line of b.s.? Is it gonna become the truth after it's written in the blogs of MD a gazillion times? I'll wager to say HELL NO!

And life goes on........................

I'm sorry drac...I am gonna have to do something I've NEVER done here before & that is delete your comment.

You can write all the blogs you wish in such vain, but it will not stand on my blog.

Thank you & have a good week.

Excellent, missliss! I stopped as of last night when I made a comment on that dweebs blog who's name was taken from the fable of the guy with homemade wings that flew to close to the sun..

He in turn posted a filthy, outrageous comment back...which our beloved mods so kindly deleted...

NO MORE...

I just noticed one of those political blogs tonight and thought to myself if I replied to it, I was just sparking what the idiot wanted. So I hope others ignore the blog as well. People are on this site to meet others - these idiots only make themselves look like a thorn instead of a rose.

I did not vote for Senator Obama even though I am sure that he is a good and decent man. I am a conservative and I really had no one to vote for. Senator Obama won fair and square so let's get on with life. We are going to be ok. I will not comment on anymore Obama blogs nor read them. I will also not read nor comment on any crazy liberal political blogs. Works both ways. Great Blog.

What you say is so true. Nothing is more discouraging to the attention seekers and demagogues than being ignored.

The only "political" blogs I comment on - or even read - are those written by reasoned folks. Most of those other rants are entirely predictable, so what's the point of reading them?

I'm with keeno. My politics and beliefs are part of my value system. They are not things I need to wear on my sleeve, wave like red flags or debate with fools.

I smell bait.

I know there's a hook.

People take the bait in the chatroom all the time, too.

They think their clever retort will insult the baiter sufficiently that
they will leave and stop being negative and attacking. It never works.

The opposite of caring is NOT caring. Hate is CARING but with control issues.

We are all human but the more we IGNORE, the less they stand to win.

Missy, I stopped reading those blogs when I saw the two dimensional nature of some of the posters. Now I just smile and shake my head as I pass them by and take notice of how many commented and were sucked in to checking out the car wreck (as Observed put it).

I've learned that some people just aren't going to change and for my own well-being, I need to act like they don't exist. This applies to more than the car wrecks though. There are people who are inclined to deceive, follow blindly, and jump at any opportunity to stir a negative reaction. I find it best to avoid them as well.

Now, if you'd take your own advice and stop giving more attention to the topic....

The chatroom is a joke and nobody goes in there anymore because there was no punchline. hehe
