Last night I posted a Rememberance Day blog....mostly Canadian orientated....today I honor my new country....with the same respect and dignity....
God Bless The U.S.A. by Lee Greenwood If tomorrow all the things were gone, I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife.
I’d thank my lucky stars, to be livin here today. ‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.
And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.
From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee. Across the plains of Texas, From sea to shining sea.
From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A. Well there's pride in every American heart, and its time we stand and say.
That I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.
And I’m proud to be and American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.
PEACE BE WITH YOU....

Do you realize how difficult it is to try to read the words as just poetry when you know the tune that accompanies it?
Excellent choice of songs for this very special day, maggiemae684.......
Thank you and yes God bless the USA, but more importantly, USA bless God I could not have said it any better, kywonder.

thanks for posting this and it always get to me when I hear this song. On this special day of remembering our veterans, let us not forget those who also served and are usually forgotten as true veterans of the US Forces;

There are those who feel only a certain segment of society can be patriotic. To them, I say "bah humbug." I love my country as much as anyone could. God bless America. God bless those who have served, as well as those who are serving today.
Thanks for the tribute, mags.

Awesome Mag! This song was number one when I was at the VFW national convention in Chicago in 1984. Lee Greenwood was presented an award then for this song and he performed the song for us...it was definitely quite moving and had special meaning!
Thank you!!

I remember when the American Idols sang this song. It was when Josh Gracin was on the show AND an American soldier on leave. He had to end his run to return to the war.
This song doesn't just touch the Americans, it touches us up here in Canada too as you can change the country's name and we all feel the same way. THANK YOU
