OK...so, suposedly THIS bail out is for us in the form of Obamas "STimulus Package"....another 700 $$ Billion dollars. $700 billion must be the magic number these days.

So is this Obamas idea of change? Can ANYBODY grip on the fact we are broke...broke.....FREAKIN BROKE!

Where is this money going to come from? And the answer is: ...wait for it.....wait for it....
YES thats right! It's yet another loan from you and me. It reminds me of Wimpy: "I'll pay you tuesday for a hamburger today." And in this case tuesday will never come....we will be paying that money off for centuries.

so off the top of my head:
If Obama gets his $700 Bill, and Bush got his $700 Bill, the never ending war in Iraq that is a bottomless money pit, which will be over $700 billion by the time Obama is sworn in, thats ...um.... roughly..... $2,100 billion dollars...or...$2.1 trillion dollars.

Now, please...can one of you, any you, tell me how the words "tax cut" can even be uddered? How you going to pay for all those "American Perks" you keep giving us if we have no jobs, produce next to nothing and already have 4 million people unemployed? We already have a tax cut going on...it's called unemployed people.

oh...wait. Obama did say he was going to create 2.5 million jobs. AWESOME that will get over half the unemployed people we have now back to work.
About those jobs:
"Building bridges, fixing roads" hmmm...don't we already have a thing called "D.O.T." that is supposed to do that? You know...those guys you see on the side of the road all gathered around a hole watching one guy work while the other 9 smoke cigarettes and bark orders at the one guy working...while ALL making $40 hr, plus bennies...working for the government?

Once again we have had a boat load of smoke blown up our asses, hate to say it...but I told ya so.
It's all a broken record that goes round and round.

Until I start hearing words like:
Population Control
Welfare requirements
Forced Education (where you actually have to graduate knowing something)
New Technology.

I'm calling it like I see it. There is NO difference between a Democrat and a Republican. Their solution is to keep throwing money at the problem until it works. Hey, guys...how about looking at WHY we have a problem and start there for a change, thats the kind of "change" I'd like to see...it's called "Common Sense" and it works very well.

sheesh.

Hey, don't you trust Obama? Didn't he promise to find all this money by the second Tuesday of next week?
Hey, maybe he'll sell the country to China to come up with the money.

Yup...agreed!...BAILOUT! Yup...I'm bailing out!! I am taking money and running like hell!...I can't afford any more of the "land of the free"...I'm going to a place where corruption is available to everyone, not just the rich. I'm going to where NO ONE gives the government a single thought. They couldn't care less about it. They don't interact with it. They have no say and thats just fine with them! The government will continue to be the government as long as the economy is working. If the government fails to keep the economy growing, they KNOW they will be overthrown!

Where is that you ask? China. Communism works my friends. China has the single largest cash reserve in the world. They owe NO ONE anything! They have no national debt! They subsidize most peoples electricity, natural gas, water and gasoline and they still have money to burn! They currently have 1.9 trillion dollars to fund, maintain and add to their infrastructure....now multiple by that by seven to get what they pay in Yuan and that is a lot of money!

True...that pesky human rights thing is always hanging over them, but the mainstream, rank and file Chinese citizen couldn't care less. They live their lives, make their rmoney and raise their families just like we do, except that they don't stress about what the govenment will or will not do next.

My good ole American retirement money is worth seven times more in China and a person with a $1,000 SS check each month is in the top 1% of the income scale for the entire country...where does $1,000 get you here after working your whole life?...It gets you poor..dirt poor and unable to even afford the basics of everyday life. I will retire on a lot more than that, but that just means I live that much better!

Four years and counting!!!

Don't like China? Try Ecuador or Thailand!

The great Messiah will bring us hope.

This is the change The People wanted -- and The People will just keep on hoping.

.

I believe the next "bail out" will be made possible by the owners of the United States -- Saudi Arabia.....again.

There is NO difference between a Democrat and a Republican.

OMG. Someone actually said that on here? Will wonders never cease? That is perhaps the first sane thing I have heard about politics on MD.

You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip and I believe that over-taxation is going to be the common denominator that will bring people together. I wouldn't be surprised to see demonstrations and marches take place the likes of which we haven't seen since Viet Nam.

mysticlisa

Nov 23 @ 1:04PM
Are you kidding me? There isn't going to be any marches and protesting. Americans are fvcking lazy. That's why the voted Obama in, they wanted free money. And where that is coming from, I have no idea, because it isn't in this house.

Where is this money going to come from??
When Bush started the war in Iraq, no one even question how much it was to cost and nor have they asked who is paying for it.

There has been questions as to where the money would come from to help the rich and elite banks, wall street and insurance companies.

But now there is big questions as to where the money will come from that will be used to invest back into the people of the country.

Then it is true that the pet will bite the hand that feeds it.

It will come from the Middle class who have and will always be the pack mules of this country. You will pay the taxes and supply the men and women to serve in the millitary. For the poor are not educated enough to use the high technology of the military and they do not pay taxes. The rich have seen that their kids do not have to worry about the military--their choise and there are enough loop holes in the tax laws to insure they pay very little if any taxes.

You will pay in the future.

You dumb asses who think that the elite will separate the Republican and Democrat or independent people--just keep on thinking. Then you die hards need to get a job.

Thanks for your comments everybody.

It boggles my mind, whats going on.

I too have looked at other countries as a new home for a long time. The south of China is VERY tempting. Shenzen has an amusement park, allows/encourages it's youth to skateboard, has a nice climate and the women are stunning.
Interesting reading here. Seattle or Shenzhen? I give the Chinese version high scores for being much cleaner.
Shenzhen, China

There is no easy answer. It took a long time to get to where we are, it will take a long time to get out of it. The fist step is to understand the problem and start with not perpetuating it.

The last "personal bailout" did about the same as the bailout for the banks. At best a bandaid to stop a gapping wound. Spending more money to fix a money problem is stupid....even Joe average American has finally figured that one out and for the first time: WE are saving what little money we have.
To us..the $10 in our wallet might be our last. To our politicians, there is no such thing as the last $10.

'm calling it like I see it. There is NO difference between a Democrat and a Republican.

You just figuring that out?

The real joke is, the American people keep voting for the same parties and getting the same thing..screwed.
The only difference is, the position these parties want.
Missionary or doggie style.

Look for more unemployment, government turning more to socialism (both parties have already with just a difference of degree in fascist idealogies), Constitution being more weakened and more unrest.

Also look for more foreign buy up of American land, industry (what's left of it) and taking over of pension plans and a move to another currency under bankers control.

Sorry, but I can't help but laugh at the idiocy...

As an 'ignorant foreigner' (Canadian) perhaps ya'all could clarify something, eh?

I thought Bush was president. How can Obama be blamed/take credit for anything until he is president?

Sure, Obama is making proposals regarding what he would like to do, once he is president....but, those are proposals, subject to change, depending on the economy, Bush's action (or lack thereof), auto recovery (or collapse), etc.

Dunno about you, but I'd prefer no one start carving my gravestone 'til I'm dead.

I haven't seen any number like '$700B', but he did mention $175B in the campaign, and many economists expect that number to go much higher because the situation has deteriorated so much.

I know that Bush is also expected to leave the rest of the $700B from the TARP bill with which Obama's team can go after the economy as it sees fit. That is almost half of the $700B by estimates I have heard on NPR.

The general model of 'rescuing' the economy is always large cash infusions, government originated, quickly, to help shore up the global economies to keep damage from going deeper, and enduring longer. Basic Keynesian economics. The last disruption approaching this depth was the Great Depression, and though Roosevelt had started his own 'bailout' of capitalism's self-devouring mechanisms, it was only the war that brought the US and the world out of the depth of frozen markets, frozen capital and meager consumerism. The US entry into WWII brought unemployment to 0% (with all of the attendant issues in measuring it then as now), so it is unclear if Roosevelt's programs would have actually ended the Depression.

If we already think Iraq and Afghanistan are money pits, how we going to pull ourselves together to fight a bigger war needing 'all hands on deck' if we're unwilling to use tax dollars to simply jump-start the economy? I'm not suggesting that any one plan is any good or bad, but rather in US taxpayer fashion where we love to be seduced by 'less taxes', where is jump-start capital supposed to come from? If we let the markets pull themselves out, we're in for one very ugly long-term mess, because downturns of this size are self-regenerating...fearful psychology just keeps driving markets down.

So it is unclear now as well as the Great Depression how to get out. Gazillions of armchair quarterbacks who know even less about the national and global economies than such quartebacks know about football, but even more vociferous in their pronouncements, diatribes and prognostications.

If we spent as much time learning about the national and global economy as we do prognosticating on it, who knows what we might do. But we'd certainly spend a lot less time with puffy chests and alarming warnings because we'd be stuck with the same conundrums with which most experienced analysts of global and national issues are, and as a consequence, be a whole lot less sure of ourselves and thus a whole lot more humble...

...but that's the educator in me thinking if you give people enough tools to analyze their world effectively, they'd change history effectively. How do we fight the allure of puffy chests, and encourage thoughtful analyses and suggestions? 'We' can't get things straightened out by ourselves.

We'd probably have to change a lot of male socialization to begin with...

When Bush started the war in Iraq hahahaha, you forget, that was Another Vote, he let the People Vote and 73% voted YES. It wasn't all about WMD's either so don't give me that crap, it was because of us being attacked they voted yes and we all know it. It wasn't "all" about poor intelligence either, it was because American's were pissed off of being attacked on our soil, it's as simple as that. Many famous men joined the military after 911 like football players etc. and that's a proven fact. It was one of the highest enlistments in years. That's why they voted yes and waited so long to get into this war, or we still wouldn't have been over there as Saddam and Bin Laden has been killing their own and taunting us for years in this cat and mouse game and we'd been tucking our tails and running doing nothing. But blaming Bush is about all the best some know how to do. If it was up to some, we'd have more buildings bombed over here I'm certain, but then you probably don't live anywhere near where a terrorist would want to bomb, so why should you care. tc Lost
