. This is now the third job that I must somehow deal with emotional supervisors.
Awwwww….. it is all so un-professional.
As an employee, I’m requested to do my job and do it well “no matter what” is going on in my life (professional or private), or else…. Or else I get warned and then fired.
So what is it with those supervisors who act out every mood of the moment at their job? What is wrong with them to melt in tears, or sit there swearing for 5 minutes non-stop (for minor stuff....)? Who says they can treat their subordinates like sh** because they had a fight with their wife? How come they hand down whatever bad mood they are in?
And the underpaid employees are always at the receiving end.
Come ON... Get a grip!!!! We do...!!!! (we, the employees....)
How tired I am of basically being requested to cope with their lives, BECAUSE they (the bright and mighty supervisors) can obviously not cope themselves…. Yet, they get paid many times more than the employee who, in the end, carries part of their burden and always has to “carry” their moods….
Sooooo.... I wonder if there are any real professionals at work…. someplace… any place….. I would like to work for them…. .

Don't you just hate it. I got cussed out by one of my assistant mangers because I got my foot broke on the job and she thought it was nasty of me to report it.

yep..and hate how one subordinate can go running to my boss because she didnt want to do something and he comes to me telling me not to treat her "that way"! The way was to make her aware of her job! But they were of a minority of which I am not....loyal ty and office politics is "skin-deep"???

I've had supervisors do that too. My supervisor who had the twin babies was a high maintenance person and since she's been gone there is a noticeable decrease in the stress and tension in the office. There is no need for supervisors to cause stress with their employees and for heaven's sake there is no need for them to yell at their employee.
I'm sorry that you have had so much difficulty with supervisors.

I guess I've been lucky....the 'worst' problem of that sort I've had with a supervisor was one who said, "I'm having some personal problems. I'll be in my office. Don't bug me." We all knew to steer-clear for a while. End of story.

My guess is that even if you found the perfect employer...the perfect boss....you'd still find something wrong with him/her/it somewhere...something to complain about...
Perpetual victims think that way!!

Bosses are like diapers - full of sh*t and all over your azz - I oughta know, cuz I are one...I get sick of hearing myself sometimes too - right now it's probably a good thing I'm working alone

Perpetual victims think that way!! A victime? Where????
Being critical of crap is not being a victim. The real victims hang in there, shut up and swallow a handful of valiums because of their supervisors. I speak up to them, because I'm not afraid.... And if I should be afraid (for losing my job....) I'll speak up to them later, when they have a "good" day...
Besides, I've been supervisor for many years myself and I knew better than disrupt work by burdening my staff with my problems. At worst, I told them that I had a bad day and would not socialize on those days....
You don't know me. How would you know who I really am??? .

In my mind, we've all been there at some point in our careers. I know for certain, I have. Hang in there & do what you've gotta do!

think your best bet is documenting their actions, for use at a later date. say a hidden tape recorder in a partly opened drawer. (believe the courts have ruled, only one party need be aware of taping, for it to be legal.) if your company is large enough, there might be a division that listens / helps whistleblowers. i know the economy is bad, but keep any eye / ear open for a new job. hope things get calmer, for you.

I try very hard not to be one of those emotional supervisors. I try to be fair and most important - I do not yell and scream at folks.
But, no one said being a supervisor is easy. I tell everyone my door is always open and they are welcome to come talk to me about anything.
But, one must also keep your personal and business life seperate. This is the most difficult part of being a supervisor.
