JUst got a email from my representative at Soldiers Angels.com they said that Walter Reed Hospital is not accepting any mail,packages,cards that are "to any soldier" It will be returned. It must have the patients name on it to be accepted. THe reason? It is a logistical nightmare to say the least. They would have to hire extra manpower just to deal with the military mail. Walter Reed Almost closed last year due to the conditions of the buildings. I understand they are now doing renovations there to bring it back to code. And on top of that there is going to be tons of holiday mail dumped there. So, Don't bother wasting your postage , it won't get delivered. If you want to help a wounded soldier I suggest you see if your state has a Fisher House in it. THat is like a ROnald mcdonald house for recovering wounded soldiers. You can find that listing under fisher house.com if you would like to adopt a soldier free of charge, go to soldiers angerls.com they will hook you up with a current soldier. In sending packages to soldiers you can't sending anything homemade like cookies,cakes,jerky etc. THe soldiers are told to disgard these items in case of poisoning. Only if you know the soldier is he allowed to accept homemade goodies from you.
