Oh my gosh. It's been one month and one day since my girl had her baby! He was so small the first time I saw him in the NICU. He weighed a mere 2 pounds 8.8 ounces when he was born. His leg was only as big as my index finger. Two weeks into his life, he had heart surgery. That went very well.
I went to the hospital today to visit him. You cannot believe how much he has changed! With the oxygen tubes away from his nose, I could actually see his face. Such a precious sight to see! I heard him cry today. Which actually brings tears to my eyes! It's awesome what the doctors and nurses can do today!
He's made it up to 3 pounds 8 ounces! wooohoooooooooo and has grown 2.5 more inches. He is still being fed through a tube down his throat..he's up to 12cc's! That is so awesome! He's started sucking on a pacifier. It won't be long and the little guy will be sucking on a bottle. He's made so much progress in this past month. My girl said it's just a matter of him getting on the bottle/nursing before he'll be able to go home.
It just fills my heart knowing that little boy is okay!

Motherhood.....AND grandmotherhood is sooooo precious....So happy to hear that everything is going well.....
It also makes us realize that the medical profession is often to be thought of as miraculous, also.
Sounds like he's on his way! Isn't it fascinating to see that something that you have produced, has also produced. It blew my breath away when my grandchildren were born...
