Well since our family is getting so small these days, at least the ones that live nearby, I packed up my mom today and headed for the free dinner at the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
We met my daughter and her boyfriend there and it was a very nice dinner, free to all that could come and to those that needed a hot meal...
They found yet another way to serve those of us that are NOT Veterans, and I thank them and commend them..
In fact, I have a plan to go out in the morning and find a few quilted, warm, jackets and take them there so that it may help a few of the homeless ones or the ones that due to the way our society is, have little..
We ourselves are not doing a lot this christmas, due to it being a hard time of year for us emotionally and because of finances, but helping someone else, is always on my list, especially around the holidays, as long as I am able to.
Please JOIN me and give, even if to one person, ANYTHING, this holiday season. It's a feeling unlike any other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
I PRAY THAT ALL OUR VETERANS AND TROOPS BOTH HERE AND ABROAD, ARE WARM AND FED, AND HAVE SOME PEACE THIS HOLIDAY SEASON!!
Happy Holidays to our Veterans and Troops!!!!

Wonderful words Syb...and a great reminder to give whenever, whatever we can. Vets are not ones to ask for handouts...unless of course they are those that have lost most of everything due to the emotional strain that can happen when giving your all for your country. The Veteran Day's parade in my home town is the largest in northern California. The turn out this year was fantastic. The pride on the faces of the men and women that served was so inspiring. And who knows how much struggle they may be going through in these tough times. They are always there for there fellow vets and anything we can do to thank them we should. There is always someone worse off then us, who better to share what we do have with, then a Vet I like to give to those locally, look up your local VA or disabled Vets organazation or look on line, a quick search found this site.

It always feels good to give to someone less fortunate than yourself. Excellent blog as usual Syb. It will come home to you. For the Bible says to cast your bread upon many waters. You never know just when or where you will receive your blessing.when you are in need.

That's great that you are planning to donate coats to the VFW to distribute to the needy. Another very important time is coming up and that is Christmas. Most all of the VFWs have an annual program to collect items to be delivered to the disabled and needy vets that are in the Veteran's nursing homes and hospitals. Some of them, like my local post actually have sizes for specific individuals that need a particular item such as a lady veteran needing a new robe or slippers, or a disabled veteran in the hospital that has family living far away that could use a new writing pen, tablet and postage to write to distant relatives.
Many VFWs also collect food non-perishable food items as well. Some use the items to provide free meals for those needy veterans and their families while others make up gift baskets at Christmas time and deliver them to the homes of the needy veterans so that they too can enjoy a wonderful meal at home with their family. They also include stockings and gifts for those families with small children.
If you are interested in making this time of year special for a needy veteran, the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is one organization that you can count on to make sure your monetary donations are used exactly for what you intend it to be used for, or they will make sure a very needy person receives your donated gift.
Thanks again for helping the needy veterans. They DO appreciate it.
