An employee at a Walmart was crushed to death this morning during a stampede from customers once the doors opened for business. A pregnant woman will likely have a miscarriage from being crushed in the same stampede. 3 others were hurt and taken to the hospital. Police are saying that about 200 people couldn't wait for the employee to open the doors and knocked those doors off their hinges. Lives were lost and people were hurt just because people wanted material things.

"They're savages," shopper Kimberly Cribbs said of the crowd. "It's sad. It's terrible."

I am quite certain that this scenario is going to play out all over the country today(hopefully the results won't be as tragic). The sad fact is that we the people are making material and monetary things more important to us then the welfare of people. This is just one example of it but there are others. We steal from each other, sue each other for petty things, we fight over things, kill over things, etc. Heck, many of us are busy after Christmas taking back gifts we receive. Remember when it use to be 'it is the thought that counts'? Not anymore.

So now someone is dead, another will never be and the loved ones of these people just had their lives shattered. All this because some people wanted a video game, or a tv or some other meaningless thing. The fact that customers were crushing these people and didn't stop once it started tells me it was a mob mentallity. The love of material things superceded the love of people.

Once we lose love for one another we will not be able to survive as a society. I can only hope that people will realize the errs of their ways and put people first in the future. God help this country.

Worker dies at Long Island Wal-Mart after being trampled in Black Friday stampede Friends there is really something wrong with this picture!!! I just can't believe this world! This is just sick!! We have lost our minds!!

A worker died after being trampled and a woman miscarried when hundreds of shoppers smashed through the doors of a Long Island Wal-Mart Friday morning, witnesses said.

The unidentified worker, employed as an overnight stock clerk, tried to hold back the unruly crowds just after the Valley Stream store opened at 5 a.m.

Witnesses said the surging throngs of shoppers knocked the man down. He fell and was stepped on. As he gasped for air, shoppers ran over and around him.

"He was bum-rushed by 200 people," said Jimmy Overby, 43, a co-worker. "They took the doors off the hinges. He was trampled and killed in front of me. They took me down too...I literally had to fight people off my back."

Nassau County Police are still investigating and would not confirm the witness accounts. The Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death. Police did say there were several injuries but weren't more specific.

Jessica Keyes was among the shoppers. She told the Daily News she saw a woman knocked down just a few feet from the dying worker.

"When the paramedics came, she said 'I'm pregnant,'" Keyes said.

Paramedics treated the woman inside the store and then, according to Keys, told the woman:

"There's nothing we can do. The baby is gone."

Before police shut down the store, eager shoppers streamed past emergency crews as they worked furiously to save the store clerk's life.

"They were working on him, but you could see he was dead, said Halcyon Alexander, 29. "People were still coming through."

Only a few stopped.

Everyone of those people should be charged criminally!!!! That's just ridiculous that they could not wait until the worker was safely out of the way.

Defender you're right it's all about material stuff anymore and that makes me sad.

The sad fact is that we the people are making material and monetary things more important to us then the welfare of people.

It is amazing what people will do for his or her almightly dollar. Tearing doors off hinges and harming and killing people is incomprehensible. Most persons are all about "me" and his or her own agendas.

I completely stay away from crowds period. I will pay full price at a quiet hour to make my purchases.

Many persons are not grounded in truth, and it is amazing how little it takes to stop the connection from the head to the body. To act in everyone's best interest is totally lost. One's own responsibility to society at a whole does not exist.

It's terrible that anyone should be killed in a store stampede or otherwise injured but it's even worse as one festive holiday season ends and another begins. My heart goes out to the families of the victims.

My grandmother was killed on a pedestrian crossing by a drunk driver - on Christmas eve. My expectant Mother was absolutely crushed by it.

The shadow of this event has followed our family all our lives.

Such a sad, useless thing to have happened. My thoughts and prayers go out to the families. They should not even have crap like this going on. Black Friday? It sure is for the families of these people who were killed, including the expectant mother's baby, or harmed. It's all so senseless..........
