There has been a theory floating around, embraced by some experts, that goes something like this:
*Muslims are intrigued by Obama's connection to Islam: his Muslim heritage, his one time Muslim religion, and the fact that he bears a Muslim name. They are looking to see if he will be partial towards them and may even be supportive of him.
*Al Qaeda, the Taliban and other Muslim terrorist organizations around the world do not like this. They, of course, need to have the rest of their Muslim supporters see the United States and its leaders as the evil Satins.
*The theory is that the latest Muslim terrorist attack in India was mounted as a challenge to Obama (it was targeted at Americans and Westerners). And further, that Muslim terrorists will now step up their attacks (particularly against Americans and American interests) to try to directly provoke Obama (and America) into having to respond harshly against places that have Muslim populations.
*Then, the theory goes, as Obama (and America) is forced to retaliate in order to protect itself, it will solidify the Muslim world's hatred of America and keep them solidly in support of the terrorists. The Muslim world will then see Obama the same way they saw Bush: in their eyes a war monger.
