This is a genearl update kind of blog. I make no appologies for that, but it's so busy recently that I haven't had time to drop in to post or read.
It happens.
Apparently.
First, the biggest of the big news; I have a new job! Well, same kind of job, different company who want to pay me more for doing less work.
Who am I to turn that down?
Just waiting from my old boss to see how he reacts when he reads my e mail giving him my six weeks notice. It's nearly midday in the morning and the phone still hasn't rung.
We have emptied my old house and all that stuff is in storage. That was another worry. But all the bedroom stuff got taken apart and loaded in the van and brought down here to Dover yesterday.
As for my old place; I'm still waiting for them to sign and return the contract; once that's done, if it's done, we can get on and start the process on our new place.
My so-called-best-friend apparently stole the name plaque off the front of my house. I'm will ing to believe anyone could have done it; but few others would have got the Hitch-Hikers Guide to the Galaxy refereance in the name; Outside the Asylum. Two expensive Japanese maples have also disappeared from the back garden. I was going to leave them, but either their roots turned into legs in the quickest evolutionary jump ever (don't get me started on that) or they were stolen.
At this point I shouldn't care less, but the thought of someone stealing a bush?
I should be happy he left quietly and we now are on the verge of selling the house; and I am. But still......
Anyway, I think that's it for now. My old boss could send me back to see at any point to see out the six weeks of my notice, but I'm hoping he just lets me go like he did with my friend.
I'd better go as the banana and honey cake should nearly be ready to come out of the oven.

Sooo glad to hear about the new job....Thanks for keeping us uptodate.
It sure is a shame that someone felt it necessary to walk off with your trees, but, you were going to leave them anyway, for the next people to enjoy. However, perhaps they will never learn what they are missing??
Make sure you each plant a tree of your own at your new place. My brother did that with every guest who visited him in Hawaii. He's been there about 30 years now, I think. You should see the beautiful gardens and orchards he has...and, when we stroll through them, he can name every tree, bush, plant and also who they were planted in honor of....
Be sure to tell us your bosses reaction to your notice. Perhaps he should have thought more highly of you while he had the chance. If you work for him in the remaining weeks, that's not all so bad...wages are wages....
Love hearing from you,
KK

Thank you for all your kind comments; there is a warm welcome for you all if ever you come down dover way.
We have just had a man sized slice of the banana and honey cake; it was made with spelt flour; something I had not heard of, but that's what you end up with if you shop at Waitrose. Anyway, the cake was wonderful and moist, and certainly something I will be making again sometime.

Sounds like all is going along just fine & dandy, jell.
Sorry about the things that turned up missing at the old place...try not to dwell on it & just move forward. Hope all goes wonderfully well on your new job, too!
As for the cake....I made a Banana-Sour Cream cake for our Thanksgiving...it was absolutely delish!
