I just finished reading CrackerJackPat's blog and I got to thinking about how blessed she has been. Quite frankly, I got to thinking about how blessed I have been to have had the opportunity to meet her through this venue. She is an awesome person that I admire immensely.
As I was thinking about Pat & her situation over the past year, a couple of other incidences that have occurred over the weekend came to mind as well.
On Friday, I accompanied my sweet baby niece on a school field trip to see Disney on Ice at the RBC Center (home of the Carolina Hurricanes, btw) in Raleigh. While in her classroom preparing for the trip, a new student was brought in & introduced. His name was Jacob & he was a precious little boy.
As we headed out of town, we came to a stop light & as we approached Ms. Brown (the teacher) looked down with an awkward expression on her face. I looked up to see what she was looking at. Poor little Jacob had fallen asleep in his seat & had slid right out onto the bus floor. The little trip didn't even awake him. As Ms. Brown picked him up to place him back in his seat, I asked her to sit him in the seat with me. I cuddled him into my side & put my arm around him & placed my leg up on the seat in order to keep him from falling out again. He slept like a log all the way to Raleigh (over an hour by school activity bus).
Thinking it was odd for a child to be joining a new class in a new school on a Friday....a field trip day, no less, I inquired with Ms. Brown about the boy. Come to find out, the lady who had brought him to class was another teacher in the school who is also a foster parent. She had just received Jacob & his older brother into foster care the previous night. Bless the little fella's heart....it's no telling what he had been through and no doubt he was totally exhausted. He became even more precious in my eyes. I plan to keep a check on Jacob & I hope he has a successful outcome to whatever his situation is.
Also, this weekend, I read with great dismay an obituary in my local paper for a girl I had been acquainted with several years ago. Her name was Michelle & I had first known of her when she worked next door to where I worked. Years later, she became a member & eventually even an aerobics instructor at a gym I went to.
Michelle was 2 years younger than myself. She had 3 lovely children & a husband that she had been married to for something like 28 years. She died from complications of Lou Gehrig's disease.
Although I never knew Michelle very well and had not seen her for several years, she had made a positive impact on my life with her kindness, her desire to help people & her faith.
I decided to post these thoughts as a blog, in order that hopefully it will make someone else stop & think of all the things we have to be thankful for. Please be patient & kind with others, as we never really know what they may be experiencing in their lives at any given moment. Please don't just automatically assume the worst in someone. Just because you may be in a bad place at any given moment, doesn't necessarily mean every one is out to get you. Life is precious people. Do what you can to make it the best life you can possibly live, for life as we know it could end at any moment.

amazing how meeting one person and how they impact our lives stays with us, no matter how much or how little actual interaction we have with them, Kinda like my Mr. C. I glad you are going to keep " tabs" on Jacob.... the more positive role models he has the better.
Hugs Miss... and Thank You.....

Thank you for sharing with us.
I think we tend to underestimate the impact that we make on others until others make an impact on us. Your words are testiment to that. We need to keep in mind, especially at this hectic time of year, how important a smile or a few kind words can be to someone else.
Bless you, and Merry Christmas.

Sorry - secret's out chatillion I may not be in here much these days, but I DO lurk from time to time.
Miss... thank you for sharing about little Jacob especially. We just don't know what these foster kids go thru, but know it can't be pleasant. Little Jacob & the others like him are in my prayers. Bless your heart for snuggling him. I always used to say I wanted an orphanage. Sure was blessed with a lot of kids in my life and loved it.
(and thank you for such kind words )

Please be patient & kind with others, as we never really know what they may be experiencing in their lives at any given moment. Yes indeed! And in continuing to do so we will find others are kind to us.
It is so easy to get caught up in the ugly rather than seeking the beauty. We absolutely do find that which we seek.
Thanks for the timeful reminder.

Thank you for sharing your story. It's usually someones elses tragedy that reminds us of how blessed we are to have good health, a home, and those who love and care about us. Something we just take for granted. Thanks again for reminding me how fortunate I am!
