| I go to MICA (The Maryland Institute College of Art). I'm in the Hoffberger School of Painting, which is MICA's MFA painting program. Last year I was painting scenes from the Bible with dinosaurs in them. Now I'm painting the end of the world, sort of. Art is a major part of my life, and comprises my primary activity. I spend the bulk of my time in the studio working, but also visit museums and galleries frequently, read up on theory, and also work as a teaching intern for some of MICA's undergraduate classes. In addition to preparing me for a career as a college art instructor, this latter activity helps pay the bills. |

| You're sitting in a graveyard when I happen to walk by. I notice you've got a shotgun next to you. "What are you doing?" I ask. "Waiting for zombies," you reply. You invite me to sit with you, and I do. We talk about how waiting makes us wish we still smoked cigarettes, and how since we're in a graveyard, they'd have to be cloves. We laugh, and then there's a quiet moment when we look at each other like we're going to kiss. Then the living dead tear themselves out of the earth, and our moment is shattered by the repeated blasts from your shotgun as we fight our way out of the cemetery. Just outside the cemetery gates, an Armored Personnel Carrier is waiting. I get to work the turret gun because a) I'm a good shot and b) I don't know how to drive. So you grind the unholy legions under the APC's tracks, and then we go out for coffe and talk about how even though we still love David Lynch's films, they just aren't the same thing to us that they were when we were 15. |

| If I knew what kind of person I wanted to meet, I wouldnn't be on here. I'd just make her out of spare parts from dead hookers, and then give her a programmable cyborg computer brain with whatever kind of personality I wanted her to have. But for a variety of technical reasons, that's not possible. The most important thing in a relationship, for me is good conversation. I usually have the best conversations with people who like to read books more than watch television, prefer Noam Chomsky to Rush Limbaugh, and would rather listen to Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen than Slipknot or the Dixie Chicks. Also, I like people who have opinions on things, and all the better if they're their own opinions rather than regurgitated from some media talking head. |
