My daughters - and granddaughters! - are independent, assertive, highly intelligent, kind, caring and thoughtful women. They are walking their own paths in life - embracing diversity, transforming challenges into opportunities for personal growth, viewing obstacles as character-builders and leaping tall buildings in a single bound . . oops, strike that last one!
My daughters (who are 36 and 29) live in southern California and Wisconsin; my granddaughters are 12 and 13 and live with their mom and dad in southern California. In spite of the distances, we chat, online, two or three times a week, share phone calls and keep each other entertained 'n' informed via our online journal (blog) posts.

I look to the "inside" when it comes to friendship. What you "look like" matters little - it's who you ARE I care about! Someone who is kind, gentle, tolerant and honest to a fault will definitely make a terrific impression! My "ideal" is an intelligent, thoughtful, sensitive man who will laugh with me, share friendship, fun, spontaneous silliness and be sensitive to the need for quiet times as well. Someone who is interested in a relationship with *substance* - I'm not willing to settle for less so I'll wait until we find each other. Whether what we share involves simple friendship or evolves into something more, its not going to endure unless its built on that, aforementioned, rock solid foundation of mutual respect, caring and trust.
