My name is Julie and I just finished my sophomore year at URI. I love to listen to music, go to the movies, go to concerts, and read. I have also loved to write since I was in elementary school and I just became a writing major. I'm not sure what career I want to have, but I think I would love to be a music reviewer. You see, I am a huge music buff and love discovering new artists.
Next to music, my biggest interest is politics. I'm a staunch Democrat and have been following the 2008 presidential race very closely.
As for my personality, I'll admit that I'm quite shy, but I come out of my shell with the people who are close to me. I enjoy talking and hanging out with friends - I just usually wait for others to make the first move. I guess it's a bad habit of mine.
Kindness is a very important quality for me. I always think about other people's feelings and can empathize easily. In high school, I could never understand how some people could enjoy making others feel miserable or humiliated. I try not to judge people because I don't think anyone has the right to pass judgment on someone else.
Another major aspect of my personality is my conscience. I'm one of the most honest, ethical people you'll ever meet. I've never cheated on a test in my life. I'm also not into partying and drinking. I would never consider using drugs.
Besides drug use, some of my turnoffs are racism, homophobia, sexism, and arrogance. Racial slurs make me cringe. I can't fathom how anyone could be so ignorant as to hate someone because of their race, religion, or sexual orientation.
Some other tidbits:
-I currently live with my mom while I'm going to college. It's too expensive to live on campus or rent an apartment when I'm not working full-time.
-I love dogs and have 3 of my own.
-I've taken French since high school. I'd love to go to Paris someday! |

I'm drawn to guys who are sensitive and compassionate. When I say I like guys who are "sensitive," that means sweet and caring. And it means not having an attitude problem or feeling the need to be a "macho" tough guy all the time. I've seen how that attitude can lead to trouble in relationships.
A good sense of humor is nice, but not absolutely necessary. An appreciation for music would be nice because music is one of my biggest passions. It would be great to find someone who would like to go to a lot of concerts with me.
If you're into doing drugs or partying a lot, then it really wouldn't work because I'm just not into that stuff. I also could not tolerate anyone who is racist or homophobic.
