Serendipity
about myself:
I started here in the early spring and at the time, really wasn't that interested in attracting a match, so much as I wanted to just meet friends. However, this is my son's Senior year and he is getting ready to graduate and spread his wings a bit, so that has opened up more possibilities for me.
The truth of it is, I am not for every woman and not every woman is for me. That sounds obvious, I know, but let me explain. The woman who is going to be attracted to me is going to be a fan of NPR; going to be connected to the arts in some way (if only a middling interest); be very electic in her interests; be somewhat of a social liberal; a conservationist rather than an environmentalist; be politically aware & votes; is active in her lifestyle and takes care of herself physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Kindness, politeness, respect for others, a strong sense of self (or at least it is a work in progress with her) are important aspects in her character and are aspects that she is looking for in a mate. And...and this is very important...she is a romantic (or at least can appreciate one), and she needs to approach life, not fearfully, but confidently, knowing that there will be good times & bad; victories & defeats; hills & valleys, but she knows, that eventually, all evens out and she maintains a positive outlook on life. Laughter and the ability to see humor in most situations is a part of her.

And most importantly...she will recognize those same qualities in me.

about my children:
I have many interests, but I don't know that who I am fits in a little box...nor, do I think that anyone does. I lead an active lifestyle and improving myself mentally, physically, emotionally, & spiritually are very important to me. In addition to doing the things that help me "sharpen my saw", I do a lot of volunteer work in my community and in the school system here. It is important to me that I do my part to make my little corner of the world a better place. My greatest accomplishment thus far, has been in my role as a father/friend to my 17 year old son. I have raised him on my own, for the past 10 years and I have, like most parents, made the usual sacrifices in personal and career choices, to see that he came first. And like most parents, I don't feel that I need to receive a reward for this...I merely did what I was supposed to do. I helped bring him into the world and I owed him that much. The fact that the experience of being a dad & the joys that have come with that, were unexpected rewards, has just added more flavor to the delightful repast that has been my life thus far. But...he is moving on in the circle of life, and so must I.
wants children:Already have one/a few and no more
job:Human Resources
about my work:
I work as a Human Resources/Payroll Manager for a large school district. I love my job, but it isn't my life. I am more interested, now, in being a "solution provider" rather than being a "ladder climber".
My past has included time in the Navy as a Russian linguist/intelligence analyst; upper management in the retail field; a route salesman, peddling cut flowers; a janitor; an athletic director & dean of students in a small school district; and an operations manager. I have unloaded watermelon out of pig truck in the August heat; dug fence pole holes and strung fence line across Montana ranch land; herded cattle on horseback, as a boy during summers on a ranch...hard work and I are not strangers...indeed, we are good friends. I would still like an opportunity to have the experience of working as waiter in an upscale restaurant, or even better, as a cook/chef. Or spend a summer on a fishing boat, working the bounty coming from the sea. And...most importantly...I would like to become a writer...using the written word to inspire and inform....to bring about awareness...and healing.
There's just so much left to do....

my idea of a great date:
hmmm...I am supposing that by the time, we reach the "first date plateau", that we know each other pretty well, through emails, chat, phone conversation, etc...Still, chemistry and physical attraction are both a part of the mix, and one shouldn't build up fantasies in his/her mind of who that other person is until a meeting takes place. For the first date, coffee and/or lunch or a drink...in a nice bistro, that allows good conversation & laughter and is filled with ambiance. Or even an activity out of doors, like a picnic or a day at the zoo.
In any case, it should progress with us both hoping that there is a second one in the very near future.
the person I would like to meet:
Please see opening paragraph. To repeat that here, would be redundant. But I "would" add one little aspect....this woman would recognize that male strength does not only come from physical size or build...but is force that comes from within the man....from his character, which has been forged through his life experiences. She will recognize that and realize that she is safe and protected with him. Unlike physical brawn, courage is built upon character and a belief/value system that puts others before one's self.
