I’m a Christian first and a father second. Everything else in life comes after those two facts of my life. As far as the rest of my life? I’m still trying to work it out because there are just so many things I haven’t done yet that may help further define who I ultimately become.
As far as my “love life” is concerned, I’ll brutally admit that I haven’t been seeking an intimate relationship very heavily in the last few years. In fact, upon reflection, I’d say I’ve been avoiding one! Why?
I’m very picky. Extremely picky to be precise. I know there are those out there who say that we must lower expectations because many times they are not realistic. Yet mine – while still being unrealistic it seems – are “must haves”. And the list is not even that long.
With that said, here’s my list of “requirements” for a potential match: you must love God, you must be accepting and supportive of my desire to work in the local church, you must be ready to understand how much my children mean to me, and you must not realize that I’m not moving very far away from my children. I have other desires and wants in mind but it will be sufficient to say that without the above, you might not make it past “hello”. |
