I am *not* looking for a quick hookup. Since I posted this profile, I have begun seeing someone, but I like talking to new people. If you think we could be friends, send me a note. Now that that's been established...
I suppose I'm looking for the same thing everyone else is ... someone who is open-minded, patient, has a sense of humor, finds life inherently fascinating, likes me for who I am, and thinks we have enough in common to be friends above all else. I'm not terribly particular whether you're a man or a woman, but MD doesn't give you that option. ;) So ... who am I?
I like good stories and great characters ... the everyday world with a little bit of magic on the side, and a schizophrenic techno-tribal-madrigal-metal soundtrack to go with it all. When I'm not reading, I'm probably playing an RPG; I've met some of my closest friends in comic and gaming shops, and there will always be a part of me that demands to dye my hair bright purple one more time, just for the hell of it ... though my current job would probably frown on that... ;)
I'm pretty laid-back, a bit eclectic, and have a healthy appreciation for the geeky side of life. In my library, folk tales, graphic novels and books on ancient myth and modern Paganism share space with random manga and all sorts of horror and speculative fiction novels. I particularly like "weird modern" and postcolonial mythic fiction. Favorite DVDs include Boondock Saints, Constantine (yes, I know it's a crappy translation of the comic, but I like it anyway), Serenity, and Boogiepop Phantom. I'm saving my pennies for a PS3 ... I'm not very good at shooters, but I do love the .//hack and Shin Megami Tensei!
The last concert I went to was HIM's Venus Doom show in Chicago. Before that, the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra. Go figure. :) |
