having big trouble, not sure if it is MD or my puter. I have to disconnect my dial up and and reconnect to change pages, and now that isn't working either, I realize there was a problem today, and a bunch of pages/threads have been deleted. How long does it take for everything to correct itself? And also, when pages are being displayed, i get small boxes for all emoticons and pics.........and due to the ads (I think) the page never seems to totally open. I also have to wait 1-2 minutes to post, if I click the mouse to open the message page, it will freeze the page in an unopened state. I'm sure some of this is on my end, but not sure how much........Please advise on any of this, before I wrap the cords around my neck and toss us both into the f*cking river................Thanks...........Oh and by the way, I live so far in the boonies, I am lucky to get dial up at 24 k......And I know just enough about this puter stuff to get me in big trouble if "I" try to solve this myself...... Thanks.

I'm having trouble with the forum pages too. To advance to another page, I have to go out of the thread, to the main page, then click on the page number. It also happens when I go back or try to use the arrow keys.

Tech, I will buy you some sushi if you fix it!

I haven't had any troubles at all here. For what it's worth, I'm on dial-up.

Have you people dumped your cookies and internet files lately? Computer memory (especially RAM) gets choked when you jump from page to page constantly.

I haven't had that trouble at all lately, but then I haven't been as active online as I used to be.

AHA!!! I finally had it happen to me! It's that topic with 225 pages in Dating and Romance...when I tried going back to page 223 or 224, I got the "cannot display page" thingy.

It's happened twice now, but only on that one.

Are there any other threads with that many pages?

That's "my" thread, Sunny. It happens all the time there and sometimes on other threads.

I don't think it's our computers since it's happening to a lot of folks.

Maybe MDTech is on vacation?

Edited to add:

I see the Tech hasn't logged on in two days. That's why it hasn't been fixed!

The page cannot be displayed problem is more an issue with the Internet Explorer web browser than it is with Matchdoctor.

Try the K-Meleon browser and you won't have the problem.

http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net/

K-Meleon is what Firefox was supposed to be, but wasn't.

The "Page Cannot be Displayed" problem you all are having with the thread

http://www.matchdoctor.com/thread_2_17080_230/Not_Your_Ordinary_Crush_Thread.html

seems to be due to the fact that the thread title was changed at one point and the DNS lookup in Internet Explorer could not handle it. It's more of IE trouble than Matchdoctor.

I changed the title for that thread back to its original by making a post, so from there all should be well.

I use the K-Meleon browser and never had the problem. I got it all the time when I switched over to Internet Explorer.

Thank you T_i_m. We've never encountered this error before until you provided a link. It looks like a serious bug in Internet Explorer. How they get a dns lookup error from a page name changing, I'll never know. Especially since I use Firefox.

We've figured out how to prevent it from happening and have fixed it. For anyone who has experienced this problem, you'll have to delete your temporary internet files (Tools --> Internet options --> Delete files). Try doing shift + refresh when you load one of the affected pages.
