Posts: 869 I rarely go into the video section to view but do sometimes like to see what videos individual members have selected as that information becomes a part of your profile and helps define who you are.

I tried to post a video for the purpose of it appearing on my profile and unknowingly my first selection was a video that has already been posted. I discovered that once a video has been posted no one else is allowed to post it.

Oddly enough the person has now cancelled their account and the video is no longer available and still can't be reposted. That is not the point though. Even if that person had not cancelled their account and that video was available for viewing in the video section, I would still have liked the opportunity to have posted my video selection that would then appear on my profile.

Some folks post hundreds upon hundreds of videos and the chances are very great that a video I might select would already have been posted. Is there some way that you can arrange to allow members to post a video to their profile even if the same video has been posted to the video section?

Edited to say: I went back to look and although the person has cancelled their account the video IS still available for viewing in the video section.

I would still like to know if there is a possibility of posting videos to your profile even if someone has already posted the video in the video section?

Posts: 1,203 I was on Youtube earlier and I saw that some of the videos have different features and I dont see a URL. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this but maybe im missing where it shows the URL.

Thanks SunBabe but thats not it...people that dont want their videos shared take out the embedding link. I never though to try the link in the address bar though. That might just work-Thanks .

Posts: 157 seems like once a video is uploaded to MD there would be a way to cross-reference the videos to have them show up not only for the ones who uploaded them but also in something like a "video favorites" library so you could have a link to show on your profile.

Dixie, the video section is unique, like the forums, in so much as the videos do not disappear when the person cancels their profile. If you perform a search for a song that is on a deleted profile's list, it will bring up that entire list of videos even though the profile has been canceled. They never go away. Just like forum posts.

You can, however, post the same video from YouTube if it is reposted in there. I often do that if I want a specific video in my list that has already been posted. Or I just do a search of the artist that pulls up a list of songs. That is one of the reasons it is important to utilize a standard way of posting videos to include song title/artist: so they can be retrieved for viewing.
