I'm all for one comment per member per blog.. And people can respond to a blog comment via mail rather than back and forth messaging on the blog entry itself.
If a person wants that kind of interaction with "just them", it isn't hard to build one's own website.

If a person wants that kind of interaction with "just them", it isn't hard to build one's own website. Not even necessary to do that. MySpace is all set up for them, they just need to migrate. And it has something called "private blogs," where you can make sure only your friends can view.
But then, they'd lose their audience, with their carefully trimmed list of comments showing overwhelming support for their viewpoint.

i've made the suggestion that at least the title of 'popular blogs' be changed because people tend to use it as a measure of their own personal popularity. it's 'popular blogs', not 'most popular blogs' and they're listed by using several different complicated math formulas (algorithms) in order to get a mix. the techs were forced to revise the way blogs were listed in this catagory because of the people who figured out ways to keep their blogs on the top of the list(s). there are also other measures in place to try to prevent individuals from flooding the blog pages with attention garnering nonsense. unfortunately this also affects those that have something original to blog about.
i'd do away with this catagory entirely and make a list entirely random.
i've also suggested one comment/blog because the comments are supposed to be about the blog, directed toward the writer and what they had to say. that would help prevent 'personal forum discussions'. and there's no reason why someone can't post the same material in the forums if they do want discussion.

Sci and I are twins who were separated at birth (by about a decade )
But hey, I'm terribly flattered that we are interchangeable...
If the criteria for popularity could be linked to the number of different commentors as well as to the number of kudos, we might actually get a good cross section/variety of popular blogs. I stand by this (posted earlier) but I also like the Mod's idea of totally random sampling on the home page.
Random listing of recent blogs would also provide more impetus for bloggers to tag their blogs, thus making certain subjects and venues easier to trace.
I guess I see the ability to have unlimited (multiple) comment posting by the same individuals as the flaw that is breaking the system.

Patrice I love the way you think. When I start my own singles site I want you as CEO.
I like the idea of a random blog page, and one comment per blog will end the attention seeking immature myspace mentality here.
What ever they decide to change has to be better than whats going on here now, but then I like change.

If you allow only one comment per commenter per blog, some of these windowlickers are going to die ya know, do YOU want that on your conscious?
Hmmmmmmmmmm?
I'd think long and hard about that if I were you, mass hysteria, whining like you've never experienced in your LIFE, an influx of paint sniffing ho-bags in the forums....yeah, you know what I'm saying...uh huh uh huh....

Hey, think about this a bit more. We could expand our wildlife rehabilitation efforts to include the species, Homo Blogtardus Flatulosa. I'm sure their families and friends would donate large sums of money to get them fixed up and back out into the real world on their own so we'd be able to set up lots of proper housing, complete with environmental enrichments like classical literature and music, English tutors; and each one could have its own little sandbox, too.

Oh, they'll be housed a good distance away from any residences and we'll invest in a top-of-the-line ventilation system until they learn to properly control their bodily functions.
If all else fails, there are always corks....

If all else fails, there are always corks.... Having watched a recent episode of MythBusters, where they disabled the pressure release valve on a hot water heater and turned it into a rocket, all I can say is, "That'd be fun to watch..."

It could bring additional revenue to our operations!
