Yah, it's still here, hasn't gone anywhere.
I don't think removing the popular page is going to do anything. The blogs will continue on as they have, the skanks will continue, the gifted writers will continue etc.
What would help is limiting one comment per blog. Simple solution IMO. This would keep the banana blogs down and at the same time, prevent that disgusting example of class or lack thereof, we saw that yesterday on Becks blog. Those pathetic displays will be limited to one comment per skank/dildo, thus removing the sounding board they seek.
If MD was truly interested in making the blog section of their website a shining example of Internet communication, they would enforce the rules they already have in place. They do on occasion, but I'm assuming the work load is just a tad too much for the moderation staff. At this point in time, they allow the multi-commented blogs to remain while posting warnings against such. I think they're hoping these warnings will have an effect but as we've witnessed, they're being ignored.
Maybe it's time for MD to appoint moderators like other sites do? When I webmastered a hunting site a few years ago, I'd appoint individuals who I considered above the fold; sans warnings, suspensions and deletions. It worked terribly well. My workload decreased and the delete key on the control panel retained its shape after a short cooling down period.

Maybe it's time for MD to appoint moderators like other sites do? I know what you are saying here. I am a Mod on a couple of other sites and I have learned to have thicker skin too. It can be very hard to be fair some times too.

PMF, are you sure you are not confusing the New Blogs section with the Favorites. I can still see the New Blogs list but no listing of Favorites.

Jaknow Gray, haven't a bloody clue. I'm not exactly sure what the main page is anyway. When I access the blogs, the popular page is there. Besides, I'm busy with a Troll meeting, we're discussing strategies, workflow and our Christmas party coming up.
But honestly, I don't think it's going to have any effect.

Oh great, that's what this site needs - trolls as MODs
Isn't the membership down enough ? Your drive-by chastisement blogs have been instrumental in having the new people leave for (in their minds) more friendly sites. We didn't have these problems, when your and your partner were off on suspension, or vacation, or whetever it was, that you were during the summer. We had a few momentary trolls who were rapidly ceased by the MODs, but not the inducement of blog wars by long term resident trolls. You guys are at it again and it is pathetic. For the most part, this was a peaceful, enjoyable and fun site, until you came back. That is the truth.

On the MAIN PAGE, Matchdoctor.com
Dating Blogs Popular blogs written by our dating members. It was never on the page you arrive at when you click the "home" tab...that only listed new blogs.
I think that's what ya'll are talking about, anyway.

For the most part, this was a peaceful, enjoyable and fun site, until you came back. That is the truth. Why all the anger sparky? Does it stem from the inability to gain access to the height required Disneyland rides? Maybe the inability to reach the window of the ice cream truck? Come on, lighten up!! Relax a little. Join in on some midget tossing or something, have a little fun.
People are so testy these days. This is a thread about getting rid of the most popular blog pages, not about your inability to procreate.....come on!!
Sheeesh....

Oh well, katts - how about this - I will bring Salad and Bagels!
The slanderous allegations by some here are better than watching the View now that Rosie is gone!
I admire those with a target on their back for keeping a good sense of humor and keeping this on topic!
Now I am awaiting a new blog - I can smell it and I am sure it will be a top ten with a BULLET!
"Wednesday 12:39 PM Joke" blog!

OK....let me try again.
If you go to www.matchdoctor.com, right there on the right in a 'popular blogs' list, as mentioned first by myself, and then by Missy.
If you click your 'home' tab in the tabs list at the top of the screen, the only blog listing is 'new blogs'.
Once on the 'new blogs' page, or if you click the 'blogs' tab, there is a list there of both 'most popular' blogs and 'last commented' blogs.
Got it?
My issue is with the list at www.matchdoctor.com because that is what every single prospective member sees when they first arrive at the site. Most of the 'popular blogs' are diatribe and vitriol of the political type. Somebody finds a news article and decides to post it with their own political spin on the events, and it turns into a clusterfck, if you'll pardon the expression.
I just know that if I ran this site, that is not the first impression I would want anyone to have of Matchdoctor.com Again....JMO

I am with you EF! The blogs out there to attract new members as well as the hot forum threads on that page should be cherry-picked by MD to show off the best of MD and not necessarily the most impassioned.
I truly enjoyed blogging much better in the early days when only pics for the last several men and women to post were on the home page. I felt freer to express my thoughts and feelings. While it is nice most of the time to have appreciation expressed for my writing, just the writing on it's own -- getting things out of my head and into black and white has generally been my main objective -- the purpose being to better show who I am as a person to prospective friends and partners.
It seems the blogging was better at the time without the competition for a 'position'. There was still posting of the inane to gain a spot on the front page, but that spot was available only once or twice a day, so there were not the multiple blogs. Though it was obvious in the blogs that friendship groups formed, there seemed little of the need to support friends against other MD members.
Or maybe I am just getting old and waxing nostalgic...
