In my humble opinion, blog comments should be ceased. They just cause controversy and conflict. If one wishes to comment on a blog, personal/private email exchanges are available. Also, blogs criticizing another's blog should also be against the rules. Would stop the flaming and blog wars.
If one wishes to open a topic up for discussion, that's what the forums are for.

end them too. 
Um... What about all the great comments ??? 
There's a lot more of those.
This thread talks about fundamentally changing how blogs are set-up and this
person/profile has a grand total of 1 blog.
I do, however, think that any blogs chastising another member (directly/indirectly, discreetly/idescreetly) should be deleted.
And by that, I don't mean just by some people, I mean ALL equally.
That would definitely end all blog wars.

warm, I agree that the blog comments should be done away with, at least until everyone will behave and follow the posted rules. If the blog is truely a stand alone object as some have said then comments should not be needed and if someone wants to say something to the writer there is always e-mail as you suggested.

Would it be easier if they linked the Blogs with the Forums? By that I mean you place a blog on the main page, but the comments go directly to the forums. 
All you would do is hit the post comment button and it let's you leave a comment in the Forums....

it would shock alot of people, when they see their viewcount fall tremendously,
and realize they are not as popular, as they believe, when the same people keep coming back to read comments, not the blog itself!
The popular blogs rating, would be alot more accurate, if it was based on , one time viewers, instead of the same people coming back.
but I still like the one comment only idea better. ......... JMO

I don't participate much in the forums, but have been reading & following some threads a little more of late. What I find interesting is the number of people who have commented about "blog comments" who do not participate in the blogs or very rarely participate in the blogs. That aside, I think Sadian's comment is quite interesting sounding. Makes me think of Emergency Rooms & Urgent Care....you can't keep the "urgent" patients from using the ER....so merge them & split them off appropriately.

Missliss: The reason I don't participate in blogs is because the majority of blogs on which I would like to comment, filter their responses. They post misinformation, and frown on individuals who care to dispute their fabrications.

SNG...I was not directing my comment at anyone in particular. I had simply taken notice of this from the previous thread that was locked & into this one, as well. I'm not saying it's a problem, by any means...just an observation. Besides that, I've seen you post lots in the blogs.
