Operation Aborted

I tried to sign on to MD with my daughter's computer and got a pop-up saying something to this effect:

"This site can not be opened. Operation Aborted"

When I came home, everything worked fine, so I thought perhaps my daughter had the site blocked from me. LOL But I just got an email from Robo and he said he got the same pop-up so could not log in to read his email.

Anyone else have that problem? What's the dealybop?

Pali...It happened to me last night! I was so frustrated.
All of my time online I have used Internet Explorer & never, ever had a problem until last night. After making SEVERAL attempts to log in MD & fix the problem I threw in the towel, downloaded Firefox & used it with NO PROBLEM!
I'm back to using I.E. this morning, but I actually kinda liked Firefox to be honest!

My daughter has Firefox, too. I should have tried that. Strange, eh? Anyway, I got a message from Robo on here that he was finally able to log on by deleting his cookies and history on IE. I guess I'll do that at my daughter's place next time I go there. I really didn't see much difference with using Firefox and it didn't have the space on the toolbar to store my quick links.

Thanks guys, nice to know that if I'm going totally nuts, at least I'm in good company.

I even had a problem this morning, then tried logging in from a different partition and it worked fine. Thanks for the tip Pali - I guess the other partition needs a good housecleaning.

I got a message saying,

Dear Non-Paying Cheapskate,

Please go away,

you are not getting your honorary free lifetime membership.

We recommend POF!

Sky.

I haven't had a problem. I delete my temp files every day, and my cookies a couple times a week.

I didn't think about deleting my cookies & history, as I do that regularly myself. What was MOST annoying about it to me was I had no problem anywhere else, ONLY here on MD...which led me to think it was MD having problems. And wouldn't ya know it...I could not find anyone else I knew from MD on my yahoo at the time. Just happy now to know I wasn't alone. All's well & end's well.
Y'all have a great day!

BTW, Pali...I did notice a couple of things I missed being available on Firefox, but one FINE thing about it is when posting comments in the forums, writing emails and blogs, there is a built in spell check which I think is GREAT!

I love Firefox and the spell checker is my lifeline.

I couldn't get on here last night either.. I finally threw in the towel and went to bed. I'm pretty sure it was just a glitch here because I didn't have any problems getting on any other sites.

lol, I thought it was because I was at work and the new security software was blocking the site. Nice to know it wasn't that, at least.

I really didn't see much difference with using Firefox and it didn't have the space on the toolbar to store my quick links.

Click View, then select Toolbars and select any additional toolbars that you would like to see...or construct a custom one of your own design.

Firefox has far more features and is safer and faster than Internet Explorer. I only use Internet Explorer at the very few sites that require it -- such as Micro$oft's update pages.

It's very odd that IE will not work for you guys, but firefox works just fine. I'm actually posting this with IE, so it is working. If there was a network problem, it shouldn't work with either browsers. We haven't made any changes to the site at all. Although when I first opened IE (which I do not do very often, firefox fan here) it did give me a timeout error, but after clicking refresh the site loaded just fine.

I'll look into it some more though.

I had a jar full of cookies to shoot off

I had the same problem last night Pali and it wasn't any better today. Just a few minutes ago I downloaded Firefox and was finally able to get back on.

I've been using IE on one computer all along with no problem. The other computer started getting the "aborted" error last night with IE, though.

Which, of course, makes absolutely no sense....

This is the second time I've logged in to MD today using IE and I have not had a problem at all today....just last night.
Having experienced the firefox last night, I might become a convert myself!
