After the year is over, your credit card will be charged $5.99 a month until you tell them to stop.

I believe there is a little box to check to make sure you agree to have the money taken out every month. That is the way I have mine.
Actually, after you have submitted your credit card or what ever you use, that is when you have the option to have it taken out monthly.

I never had one of those, it was just a one time billing.

If you ever cancel your account while you're a gold member, your subscription will be canceled also. If you reactivate your account your account will not automatically renew.
We do not know if you will be returning, so we do not want to charge your cc if you will not be using the site any longer.
