Is it OK to post a blog with a link to the stuff I have on EBAY?
I've seen a couple of blogs advertising some purchase for chairty, or just a solicitation for charity.
I have some postings that I would like to put up, and I saw no prohibition about soliciting for charity in the guise of "my own musings". But thought I would check to see what the rules were before I did.
Someone set me straight, is it OK or not?
I'm not bashing, I just don't want to overstep the rules,,,,,,

I am going to say no it isn't.
9) Only links to non-commercial info, library, or news sites are permitted on the forums. All posted links must be relevant to the topic of the thread. Post with inappropriate links will be deleted.
11) No "forum spam", soliciting of any kind for websites, products or services, or directing people to other websites.

Posting things that you have for sale on ebay (or anywhere else for that matter) is not permitted.

How about posting links to things that OTHER people have for sale? I've seen lots of links to silly products like tin foil hats and funny chairs or toilets or whatever...they are still links to sites that have stuff for sale tho

I would have loved to have posted a link to the aircraft carrier that had been on sale on eBay...

I think they are talking about links to sites where the poster is making a profit on the item, not the silly ones.

Hey--
I'm really concerned that this question ISN'T EVEN ABOUT something FEELING-oriented, but monetary!
This worries me--where'd the love go?

Hey, it's all good Mr. Man.
I got the answer to my question. Course, I didn't see one to EF's question, but I'm going to assume to putting up stuff for other people would violate the spirit of the law, if not the letter of the law.
I didn't mean to bait,,,,but if I did,,,, isn't this the right "FORUM" for it? It was a serious question, and the example were to make sure I was on the same page of music as you were, that's all.
Perhaps you are just a bit sensitive,,,,, you should explore taking a vacation and relaxing some,,,,, quit looking for the devil under every rock, and you won't find him.
Have I told you lately that your triangle looks like an Asian lady on an exam table?

OH, and one more little question, just a yes or no will suffice. Nothing sinister, just trying to clear up some confusion,,,,
Do the rules for posting in the forum apply to posting in the blog space also?
(My clarification ---- I've noticed several persons refering to rules for posting the forums, when discussing posting in blogs. There is no direct reference in the instructions, so just this little bit of info. may help prevent some confusion before it starts.)

we're working on revising the blog rules and adding a link to 'site posting rules' (rather than calling it 'forum posting rules'). some of the 'rules' are in your terms of service, which we may not repost because the 'terms and conditions' page is already linked whenever you post.
when the forums were reinstated on this site, we set up standard rules, which people pretty much abide with. we sometimes have to enforce them if or when things get out of hand.
it's never been our intent to over moderate this site. most of our members appreciate and respect this policy and tend to use common courtesy and common sense in helping to keep things running smoothly by handling differences as adults. in the cases where things go overboard, we'll step in and look over the situation.
the blogging section was added a couple of years ago as a benefit for those who'd like to have their thoughts, personal writings, or journals attached to their profiles. we had no intent of creating a sub-culture within our overall matchdoctor community, nor did we anticipate the need for having to restate our posting rules and policies. obviously some people don't realize that this is all one site and seem to require or demand rules tailored specifically to every individual situation.
if anyone prefers the totalitarian method of posting and moderation, we can refer them to several sites that they may feel more comfortable with. meanwhile, i'm not wasting any more time with this non-coincidental issue and your 'innocent' attempts at manipulation.
you are as welcome as anyone else to write to the (allegedly fictional) principles you're referring to and ask for the link to a chairity, just the same as anyone's allowed to ask someone else for their links to dog and animal rescue sites they're involved with, to their local disaster center, to donation sites for ill babies, etc or any other program anyone else is involved with in their personal lives.
on the other hand, this is not ebay or craig's list. any solicitations for personal profit are deleted as soon as they are brought to our attention.
we also use common sense and a modicum of intelligence, not a 20 page list of printed do's and don'ts, when someone posts a link to tinfoil hats for sale or jesus on a potato chip auction. however, we will not take any responsibility if you get suckered in and wind up as the highest bidder.
if you still have issues with these subjects, please submit a support ticket to the office.
donations to the moderators vacation fund may be submitted via pay pal. since you feel this would be a public service, i'm sure the irs would allow it as a tax deduction.

Perhaps you should do away with the rules altogether and run this site exactly as you intended, which is what you do anyway and make a very good job of it.
Some people seem to pick and choose which rules they like and dislike, they try to bend them to fit, ignore the ones they don't like and stress the ones they do like, or even parts of the rules they like.
Eg:
11) No "forum spam", soliciting of any kind for websites, products or services, or directing people to other websites. I'm not bashing, just wouldn't like to see people overstepping the rules.
