The Mods will never be out of daddy mode, that's part of the job.

In the forums, it's no different, people say nasty crap to each other, especially in the religious rooms and the mod pepper them or locked them down, so what's the difference. I seen far worst things in forums then in blogland.

In reality, my idea is to teach and make the author more responsible, rather then make the Mods play daddy. So raise it up to two comment to allow for corrections and for replying to the author or someone else's comments.

The system can only work, if the people are responsible.

But Ed-
forums ARE for discussions....blogs are not.

If there is something people would like to be able to "discuss"-bring it to the forums!
If blogland is allowed to be just like the forums....then we may as well get rid of them.

Certain people abused blogging....that's why this was done.

I like it.
And if I have further discussion to hold with another here concerning a blog....I email them

Allow more than one Comment .. and let the Author have some controll

The FM asked on NUMEROUS occasions that all members be proactive & police (or control) their own blogs. It didn't happen....hence, the reason the "one comment per blog" rule was instituted.

I don't know why this is still being actively discussed. I've got a feeling that if we keep on pushing the point that MD will remove the blogs completely.

And that is why it never works.

But what they have chosen to do now seems to work quite well.

Why does the FM have to be the Daddy in the forums and for what I have seen in forums, people go off topic all the time.so is that really a discussion?

In the blogs most people stay on topic, so I am confused by where the real focus is, because the roles seem to be reverse.

MD, get rid of the blogs. Oh, they'll cry and whine for a while, for then things will get back to the forums. Robodad

That's even better than my suggestion of removing ALL commentary features and forcing the wannabe writers to produce truly stand-alone material. Yeah, they'll whine and cry, but don't they anyway regardless of what the "discussion" is at hand? The various forums are where ALL discussion, attention seeking, queries, etc. should be in the first place, good or bad, inciteful or thoughful, indifferent or nonsensical, whatever. Forums/threads have always been the junior high school of online "communications" with all the in-fighting and psycho-drama.

Being online on a website such as this is NOT a right, nor can it even be remotely considered a democracy. No one wants to have the inmates run the asylum!!!! As back in the days of old when I was part of the pre-Internet world of BBS (Bulletin Board Systems/Services for you "newbies"), it was a dictatorship. As I used to say, "I paid for the equipment, software, support, etc. and I can tell you and your's what is appropriate and what is NOT. Don't like it? Go somewhere else!" The Mods and MDr. have often stated basically that to any number of people utilizing this website that feel their rights are being violated and that they, the people with the "plug-n-play" mentality having no real technical or management experience, feel that they can decide better how this website can be administered. How little people truly do not comprehend what is being stated by management.

People forget for every user that is "blocked and kicked" from this website for infractions or the ones that throw a temper tantrum going off in a sulk/huff, 5 or more new users will sign up in the same span of time to replace them in the body count. Some stay and some don't. Online "life" has always been a revolving door and always shall be regardless of how irreplaceable some feel that they are in this "world."

It was all dollars and cents back in the late 80's and early 90's for me, and it is no different today for the owners of this website.

^^^^^^^^What she said!^^^^^^^^^^

YMMV . . .always consider the source, who has also been around since the BBS days and been in the trenches as a site moderator.

this is tooo funny..wrong..but oh so funny.. the forums are sooo over your head if you think this to be true...

it is more like 3 dimensional chess verses one dimensional..

if you would get your mindset out of the old days..you would find that it is a brave new world..

such a lame argument from someone who controls his blogs .. you are all about control..aren't you...

If there is a thread that interests you, but it's gotten too off topic...nothing says you can't come in and post your thoughts anyway....there are plenty of people that would like to hold a discussion with you!

Of course, most people wanted the blogs this way right? MD did what was asked.

Leave them the way they are.
