Every other message board or forum I've been on gives you the option to delete your postings. Why can't I here?

Actually, I believe we are afforded the opportunity to change or edit our posts for two hours. I am on other sites and I have never had the ability to delete my posts once made in a forum.

Just think carefully before clicking the post button!

Can you imagine the havoc it would cause.

People could post some really nasty stuff and then, poof, it's gone.

If it's good for the blogs why not here, after-all these are really just mini blogs anyway.

The author of the thread should have the power to delete at the min.

I've often wondered why we can't delete posts...Once it is there though sometimes I might go back to edit. I thought you could alway's edit. Once I write it, it stays up. Blogs I delete. I once had about 400, but they are all gone!

nope.. my vote cancels out yours here...

BTW.. they are not mini blogs.. they are forum threads..it was people like you, who could not tell the difference, that caused all the blog wars...

having your words written in stone, so to say......

is a true insight to character.

if people were more responsible for the words they type, why should they be concerned about deleting them?

true character is defined by standing behind the things we communicate! Would you say to someones face, the things you type under the safety of being anonymous?

A forum thread is meant for discussion, while a blog is meant to stand alone! A comment on a blog is just that, a comment..it is not a place to debate! A post to a thread is a discussion or debate about the topic of the thread.

I have to agree with Gallows on this one....we would still be allowed more than one comment per blog if some people could have understood the difference between a blog and a forum thread!

Me too.
I have apologized to about 5 people because I thought I was too harsh. I will say what I feel.
But I understand where Empty is coming from- a couple times, I didn't read a long-winded post, I responded and missed something already said. If I could insert a as Katt says, or an (OOPS), I could respond again appropriately (when edit time is past)
