After the lesson they learned from those of us who were here when they did that years ago, I don't think they'd "downsize" or make negative changes without warning again. 
LOL, I know of at least a dozen people who gave them a piece of their mind about the previous "downsize" when the forums were finally reinstated (and lots of other features brought into the site)  OK, eleven OTHERS, besides me.

Sunny's right, they're not going to downsize on the forums, simply because it can very easily turn into a legal mess, within seconds!

Not sure how it could become legal, unless you are paying for the service, and then if they refund your pro-rated balance, it becomes even less of a problem.

What's the point of FM coming here? No matter what he's ever done to try and calm things down around here, people don't care. They don't listen. It just keeps getting worse and worse.
So now the people who are the source of all the problems are just running a certain section of the forums and it's no longer safe to venture in there anymore.
Oh well, a few people ruined it for everybody.

The insults and name calling (except affectionate by FRIENDS) has gotten ridiculous. Try to have a political conversation if you don't agree with the 4 main ones there.
2 years ago, I got busted for chatting in the forums. A good friend was booted for 6 months for the same thing. That was way over the top.

Not sure how it could become legal, unless you are paying for the service, and then if they refund your pro-rated balance, it becomes even less of a problem. Libel (or is it slander when in writing?) is a serious offence, and I know of at least 2 occasions in the past when legal action has been threatened after serious abuse on the forums.

nastiness in MD? I heard that is the norm here, its why the bashers are allowed to stay and stupid blogs are tolerated and forums run amuck trashing whatever target is moving that minute. Its like 4th grade without any teachers, or janitors.

Let's be honest; we, the users, make MD what it is. If we just don't tolerate what the problem makers do, they will either clean up their act or leave. I am starting to avoid the threads certain people are starting, and if someone else starts a thread and they invade it (they seem to have too much 'fun' on their own threads) then we need to just sit on them. It might take just ignoring their posts until they go back to their own threads to play in.
I am also trying to remember to just log out, instead of letting myself get sucked into their arguments. I know there was one night that I lost it, too.

It might take just ignoring their posts until they go back to their own threads to play in.
Always the best course, but there ain't none of us who don't have buttons that give us grief when pushed. There are some topics that are going to be hot buttons for all of us, but I know I have to be honest, even if it means losing friendships that I really valued.

Some days it seems certain topics hit me worng and I get angry. The I post something I wish I hadn't. Oh and by the time I cool down I can't edit it either.

No, I just meant by "downsizing" that they have fewer employees now but expected to do the same amount of work. They are spread thinner.
