I know it is kind of short notice, but I finally decided to go for it. If I wait any longer, it will get too warm, or my home will be sold.
April 28 thru May 1st (4 Day Weekend), I will be having a get together at my home. I have a three bedroom, 2 bath, on about 3/4 acre. I also have a 17 ft. trailer on my back property, and it has a kitchen and bath.
Bring a sleeping bag, unless you have dibs on one of the beds. I will sleep on the foldout, which means there will be one queen, and one double bed. You can toss sleeping bags all over the place.
If you prefer to pitch a tent, not a problem. Or, the closest hotel is in Yucca Valley, and it is about 10 minutes away. Of course, you can always splurge and get a room in Palm Springs. It's about 25 miles from me.
There are several casinos within 20 miles, or so. My little town is very small, but we have a wonderful park and hiking trails in the Reserve. The Joshua Tree National Monument is quite close too.
As I'm sure you will understand, since it is my private home, I can only allow attendance of persons who I feel comfortable allowing in my home. Those of you who are my MD forums friends, or those who have met me at a gathering, are most definitely invited.
If you are interested in being a guest at my home, please email me ASAP. Also, the closest airports are Palm Springs, and Ontario. Check out bookingwiz.com for flight info.

Here is a link to my 'Spring Bloom at the Casa'. Thought some of you might want to get a glimpse at what my home looks like.

I'm looking forward to having visitors.

Sounds like fun at the Casa del Classy. Did you invite Jester. You know he liked the New Years Eve Party there.

Pali,
That sucks! Can you come Friday and Saturday? I know that's asking a lot. We could do a fun Saturday lunch together in Palm Springs, and then you could catch a flight home. The airport is less than ten minutes from downtown. Why don't you check on flights?
Katt,
You are more than welcome to stay at the house, and the back master BR is still available. You might want something more romantic though, and I would suggest Palm Springs--at least one night.
I'll see if I can find a hotel list. There are several to choose from. I have a few favorites too.
I'm going to be taking some more photos and posting them here. Maybe I'll drive around tomorrow, and I'll get some pics of my favorite hotels. That is, if it isn't pouring rain.

Aw man! I would LOVE to come to this gathering. It sounds like a big slumber party!
But alas... those dates will be filled with studying for finals! I'll be free most of the summer though if you guys come up with anything else.
Have fun!

I really would have loved to have you visit, Alto. I knew both you and Green had school, so I figured you would not be able to make it. BooHoo!
Unfortunately, it can start to get uncomfortably warm here, even in May, so I had to schedule. I keep thinking the house will be sold too. I want one more big shebang before the house is no longer mine.

Palm Springs is nice, but over-rated. The slumber party theme is always fun, as is waking up to see who got their eyebrows shaved overnight!
The best part is watching all these glamourous folks from MD staggering around in the morning, waiting for the coffee to kick in. The second best part is Classy's apple flapjacks, my peach scones, and Katt's biscuits & sausage gravy (for the non-vegetarian...

I'm slow responding. Spent most of the day in Palm Springs. I took photos of several hotels, and I got names for everyone. There are some cute places. I'll be posting them, as soon as I get them uploaded to my photobucket, and I'll post whatever info I have.
Not too many takers yet, but I know our other lists kept fluctuating, so you never know. So far:
Katt
Haban
Wanda
NuTHen_BUTT_Trouble
Beachnut
Myself
Angel5 (maybe)
(Probably some local friends)
I need to get some emails out too.
I feel like I'm forgetting someone. If I did, SORRY.

You're right, Beach. Heaven hasn't got TOO far to drive.
Alright everyone!!! The pics are ready for viewing!!!
I have labeled each, so if you see a hotel you like, you can check on rates. I will also see what rate info I can find out for you, and I will be checking to see if any of the casinos have a show we might want to go to, one of the nights.
I've also included some scenic shots.

The pics were great, Classy! There's all sorts of things to do in the desert...
Both Palm Springs and Palm Desert have extraordinary shopping districts -- this could make an excellent "bonding through shopping" time for the ladies.
The Living Desert Museum is really a Zoo of the native wildlife and vegetation, and it's fascinating. But it's all ourdoors, you you need to go EARLY in the morning, before it warms up.
If you get too hot, the mall at the Palm Desert shopping center has an indoor ice rink, which makes it a handy place to cool off!
For the guys, a 45 minute ride gets us to the General Patton Desert Warfare museum, with over 2 dozen tanks on display, and lots of other cool stuff about the site's use to train soldier prior to their deployment to North Afrtica in WWII.
I'm sure there's a Hooters someplace, as well as someplace to watch gals polish a brass pole. But when I used to travel in the area commercially, I was very married, and I am again. So somebody else will have to do the scouting for the guys.
I think we'd be too early in the season for the big Fair in Indio -- the camel and ostrich races are a real hoot to watch!
This could be a lot of fun!
