St. Louis is...
...the largest city in Missouri
...a busy river port on the Mississippi River near its confluence with the Missouri River
...was an important staging area for wagon trains westward in the 19th century

No Motown... there are a lot of us who cannot drive all the way to the Quad Cities who are interested in meeting in St. Louis.
This is an entirely different gathering. Let's make that clear right now. I don't want any confusion. This gathering is completely unrelated.

I only brought it up because before our Michigan Mt Pleasant get together, somebody started another Michigan meeting thread and it caused considerably confusion.
 Also, I don’t think they’ve actually made a decision about where to meet in the “Midwest get together?”. It still could be in St Louis? Now wouldn't that cause some head scratching...lol.

It's my understanding that the dates and place have been decided and St. Louis is out. You might need to contact them and get the details or go back and read the whole thread. There's no reason they can't go ahead with that. There is a thread for Indiana as well... everyone doesn't have to go to a single event. St. Louis is a full 265 miles away from Davenport and the gathering certainly will not be scheduled on the same weekend. We all have the freedom to do as we please and this way more people from further South might be able to make it. I think the problem is that the events are either in California or are so far North that it excludes too many interested parties and we need one that's a bit more centrally located. Perhaps we should have one in Joplin, Missouri as that is supposed to the center of the lower 48!
Also, I planned to try to get something together for St. Louis before they ever posted the midwest gathering. If people don't want to sign up for St. Louis, that's ok too! It'll either work out or it won't.
