I see threads for getting together for peeps in Indiana, MI, OH, IA, WI, MO, etc. There are many singles also in central IL, of course all over the state. :)
In any case, there are some real decent things to do here for a day, or even an evening. If anyone is interested in seeing a group get together for IL materialize, please post here, or contact me, and we'll see what we can do. I like the idea, in fact have had a thread for a while now about the possibilities of good for double dating. I would personally love to meet many of you, males and females. No, I'm not bi. Well, maybe tri? whatever that is. lol
Anyhow. all kidding aside, I would, I think, very much enjoy seeing this materialize.

I don't personally see why both couldn't happen, you know, according of course to whatever works for anyone interested. But I'm not that far from the Q City area, well maybe like 4 hours or so.

We're also planning a get together for St. Louis but if you get one together in central Illinois, I'll be there too! I'm not limiting myself to only one gathering. So, count me in! 
And I agree, Jeff. There is no reason to have a single all-encompassing gathering when we all have our own preferences and other ideas! No one has dibs on the entire Midwest! With gas approaching $3 a gallon, I'm sure that will be a factor in how far many of us can travel this Summer so the more gatherings the better the odds of more people being able to attend at least one of them.

For instance, about 150 miles northwest of me (an hour north of Bloomington, IL) is a wonderful, wonderful park - Starved Rock - with a beautiful lodge, trails galore, gorgeous bluffs, gorges, canyons, Eagles, and yet another, even what I think is prettier for many reasons, park called Mathiessen (sp?), just a few miles south. We could meet there, and split up after a nice picnic/cookout, maybe some volleyball or something, into hiking groups/pairs, pair up, and off we go. :)
A bunch of motorcycle buddies, their SO's, etc. used to convene there a couple times a year that way, ride, hike, eat, play, drink a few cold ones, and ride back home. It is a great place. I still make runs up there in my vehicle to hike on my own.
We could plan something like that. It wouldn't have to be like a sumptuous event, necessarily. Heck, I'm betting that with all our combined creativity, we could come up with something highly worthwhile & enjoyable. I would even toss out that I have a 4 BR/2BA house here. I could help travelevers by providing lodging for a couple if need be. Why not? Life's too short to not trust people and your "gut hunches" about them. If people "sell" me on their self, character, etc. I'd certainly open my home/hospitality to them. heck, even Jesus needed a room once to get here. :) heheh
Anyhow.
That's my take. I'm saying if we could settle on something we could make this for even May, or perhaps June. What about Peoria? Lots to do there, and rooms at the Casino hotel (lotsa time King suites) can be had online often for a great deal. Check this URL for info: http://www.paradicecasino.com/

Silly, YOU of all wonderfully sweet people should know that NOW I must ask you to contact me, and let's do it. We'll lay the groundwork for everyone else so that we can tell everyone where to go, not to go, etc. you know, we really should czech it out in advance Kati! ;)

My personal opinion is that it would benifet everyone if we were to do the gathering in St. Louis, the one in the Quads, and do one in the Central Illinois area.
Have to agree with the gas prices the way they are a lot of us can't afford to spend money on gas, hotel, food, and frolics. So why not make multiple weekends over the summer so that it would be possible to attend all three gatherings? Isn't that the advantage of living in Central United States?
I need a plan to get away from it all for some adult fun!

Well, I've posted some ideas for things to do in this general idea, and only a smattering at that. Feel free to take this offlist with me in particular and general if you want. I'm money-conscious as well for sure, not that anyone else isn't.
And being budget-wise and savvy does not equate to being a stick in the mud. I have some fabulous, free or nearly-free, ideas that would be highly enjoyable and allow for fully engaging, involved time spent and not necessarily getting drunk or racing out-front to display lacka good sense.
Tell me ideas. I think we should arrange a get-together sometime either in Bloomington-Normal or Champaign-Urbana. I like the former because of its more centralized location, and I know one knockout comedy club. There are so many though, especially if we're independently creative. I also have friends right here in the Champaign-Urbana area with about 100 acres of PRIME real estate with a pond BURIED in the wilderness just off the interstate absolutely teetering on the edge of being in the midst of mushrooming neighborhoods. He and his family have owned and lived on this property for three generations of neighbors.
If I approach him in a positive way with people who are quality, positive people, he would not at all be opposed to allowing good people to come out to his place, set up some cool sound (maybe even with his amp/pa setup, etc on a flatbed trailer) equipment, just a good pond-side fire at the picnic tables, whatever.
I grew up country. I materialized "city." The country colors me through to the capillaries & corpuscles. :)

Hey! New here! but I live about an hour south of Decatur or Springfield, and about an hour and a half, west of St louis, near Vandalia. Campers here? Ramsey State Park. Although I think something a lil bit more exciting would be fun.
