Anyone have a Bowflex machine? I'm thinking about buying one, and I'd like to get some honest opinions on whether they are worth the price.

Sorry, but they don't carry those at the weight rooms that I go to.
I saw those infomercials, though...looks like a good deal.
Google up the performance rating on them is the only advice I can give.

Oh I would love to have one!!!!! They are the best you can get, if you can afford one, plus if you are serious about using it all the time.

Any advertisements for a product that dont reveal the cost of that product are always way to expensive.

I tried it once at a friend of a friends place and I love it and really worked out my back so good that i didnt feel any pain for a while.

Only problem as people were saying that its expensive. I think the lowest ive seen it sold here where i live is $1,000 but thats the basic model and yes it was from a store. But what is going to get me to pay more is the delivery and installation of the item cause I still havent called and asked about that.

Sparks, just buy some free weights or do push ups. I don't like Bowflex or Soloflex machines. The bands just don't offer the same kind of resistance as the feel of a dumbbell or barbell. I never liked the constant resistance feel of the machines.

If you really plan to use it and stick with the exercise routine it is well worth the money. If you are just beginning I would suggest you join a good club until you know for sure you will stick with it as the machine is pricey but well worth it in the long haul.

I also need to add that it really depends on what you are trying to accomplish. If you are wanting to build strength as well as condition your body I would suggest free weights instead of the machine. It does build strength but not nearly as well as the free weights will. The machine is really best suited when you want to tone and condition the body.

Edited to add the last paragraph.

If I had the room (and the money) I probably would buy on. I still think that it's a good thing to have. You could use use anytime you want in the comfort of your home instead of going to a gym. Most times the gym is crowded and the weights/machine that you want to use is taken.

Mine works really well for hanging clothes. If I had it to do over, I'd probably opt for traveling and taking long walks through museums.
