As I read some of these profiles on this site, I'm disappointed to see that there is hardly any men that like to hunt and/or fish.
Most will say yes they like the outdoors but for me the true outdoors is camping by a remote lake for a few days to hunt for moose, deer and do some fishing. Have a fish fry then cuddle by a roaring fire, sippin' on campfire tea and listen to the call of the loons and watch the sunset, and star gaze then after that crawl into a tent and snuggle up together and in a double sleeping bag and then..well you get the picture...hehe.
Now thats what I call 'outdoor' loving and living.
Where are you guys? Guess out hunting and not in front of a computer eh? lol.

My neighbor shoots racoons in his backyard. I always think he is going to mistake one of my cats for one of them cause the guy is like 90 or something. Oops, I guess this isn't what you are looking for here?

Well MizzunderstoodOne, I fish like a fiend but you won't find me on a lake very often. I much prefer a fish that has the ability to pull you out of the boat as opposed to one you need a bobber just to see if one is on the line ;)
As for hunting, Today is the first day of Deer here so tomorrow at about 4:00 AM I'll be in a stand...

Summersquall..why would you want a fish to pull you out of the boat? lol. I'd prefer something I can eat not eat me. And as for deer hunting on a stand...I've seen that. We hunt on a boat in the middle of nowhere. We HUNT the animals, we don't sit on stands waiting for them to appear. But I guess whatever works for you right? Good luck on your hunt!
And Motown NOPE that don't count! LOL whatta guy!

You should of been in our "country" thread MizzUnderstoodOne.Found some good ole boys and some gals unafraid to share there stories about throwin a hook, settin a trap or baggin a buck.
I guess if youve never sat in a tree stand in complete silence, enjoying every critter that passes by that your not hunting including those that you are but dont want until a bigger one comes along, you'll never know the pleasure.Try it! Its like fishing,if you get skunked you still enjoyed it.

In my neck of the woods there are plenty of good ole boys (and gals) that are tremendous hunters. Shhhhh........maybe you need to be still enough to watch for them. I myself am not an expert, but am pretty good at baiting a hook (Iv'e had 22 years of practice with "Mom bait my hook would ya?" PLEEEAASSSE? And have beat my son many a time at the lake pulling them out. My SUV has reeked of "stink bait", and my kids have caught their fish hooks in my wild hair do more times than I care to remember! I have hiked and camped in the Sierra's, with no curling irons, makeup or bathroom. Now that is camping! Now your sleeping bag idea and snuggling by the fire are sure fire winners! I don't hunt deer, but am not a bad shot, (I can tell you hysterical stories of a coon caught in the tree, and shooting those wascally wabbits in Grandmas garden with a bb gun as a kid) I love shooting the bow.But so far have limited my abilities at the target. My Daddy is the huge hunter of the family, (maybe I should hook him up with you MizzUnderstoodOne!) he's already been to Canada this year for a moose and geese and has so far bagged 7 deer this season, I may not get in on the hunt, but love to watch the deer while hiking. Of course I always get to help with the butchering part, and the cooking. So ya see, I am sure they're out here, they just haven't come out of the woods yet!

Fair questions!
The reason I prefer the bigger game fish is because it's more challenging! When it takes hours to bring a fish on board it's somehow more satisfying. Where's the sport in catching a bloated minnow and cooking him over a match? ;)
As for the hunting, where I live the Laws drastically restrict how you can hunt and I'm not too crazy about them. The most common way is to drive, where a few 'chase' the deer to guys waiting to shoot them. I can't stand that, not to mention the fact that shooting a running animal with their blood pumping always tastes much more gamey than when you shoot a standing animal.
We also cannot use rifles, we have to use balls/slugs with shotguns. The area is just too populated. The best sport to the hunt here is using a stand, so I have to make do. Oh and yes I got one...:)

I still hunt deer, squirrel, crow on occasion. Love to camp out with my boys near the lake for a weekend right after the weather cools off. Waiting for a front to move through to get the deer moving on my hunting land now and then you won't see me on here.
