The Big Ten's still a tossup for me this year.To many of the best in one conference. You can spray all you want about coaches but none did better in there first year than Wisconsins Bret Bielema 12-1 and thrashing Arkansas in the 2007 Capital One Bowl. Iowas going to be the sleeper but we have Michigan and them at home so thats a wash for the Badgers.

y'all know these commercials...here's a new one...
Bud Light salutes Crimson Tide!
Announcer: Today we salute you, Mr. Delusional, Irrational Alabama Fan. Backup singer: Mr. Delusional, Irrational Alabama Faaaaaan!
Announcer: Season after season, year after year, you try to justify your absurdly high pre-season ranking. Backup singer: Why aren't we number one?
Announcer: You scramble to make futile attempts at damage control when the Tide lose to a grossly inferior opponent. Backup singer: Neeeeeed to hire Nick Sabannnnn!
Announcer: Inevitably, you'll bring up the past, and boast of championships won 20 years before you were born. Backup singer: Those were the daaaaaays!
Announcer: You will point out that you have more bowl wins than any other program, as though that is relevant to the current season. Backup singer: Been playing since the 1880ssssss!
Announcer: Go on, ignore that home loss to your archrival in the regular season finale for the 5th consecutive time in a row, and continue to believe that you'll defeat your bowl opponent with striking ease. Backup singer: We'll still whoop that ass and win by thirteeeeeeey!
Announcer: So crack open an ice cold Bud Light, oh Emperor of Excuses, and take comfort knowing that when you don't finish in the top 25, you'll be back to number three when the pre-season polls come out next year. Backup singer: Mr. Delusional, Irrational Alabama Fannnnnnn! This probably won't be funny to anyone outside Alabama. The Bammers tend to live in the past. The Bear is still somehow gonna save them...somehow. (he's been dead for 20 years, and yes I cried the day he died. he was THAT big) The best joke I know is...how many Bama fans does it take to change a light bulb? The answer is four. One to change the bulb and three to talk about how good the old one was.

12-1 and thrashing Arkansas in the 2007 Capital One Bowl. You guys won by 3. I was there. But you won nonetheless, so you have bragging rights. I like the Badgers to win the Big 10 this season and possibly play for the BCS title game. P.J. Hill was solid for all but one game last season...the one where you "thrashed" Arkansas. I look for him to stay up there in the Heisman race. Obviously, I believe it's Run DMC's to lose, but we shall see. Go Badgers and Woooo Pig Soooiiiieeee!

RmP Glad to see another SEC fan in here. And just a reminder, contrary to what my friend mattman thinks, the boot stays in Baton Rouge, bud.

l admit,"thrashin" was probaly extreme to out of staters for only a 3 pt win but up here in the land of sky blue water our Packer-Bear games generally are low scoring (if you skip last years opener ) so a 3-0 or a 9-6 win over those flatlanders is indeed a thrashin. I was just borrowin one of my professional terms.

the boot stays in Baton Rouge, bud. You may be right dude. Your defense is still stacked! My question will be if you have replaced Jamarcus "the freak of nature" Russell yet. Other than that, you are obviously the favorites not only in the West, but in the entire SEC. You can keep that ugly trophy, but I want to beat you guys in Death Valley. If you force us to pass the ball, you win big. If Run DMC and Felix "the SEC's 2nd best back" Jones and Peyton "king of the" Hillis are healthy and on their game, then we might see another barn burner that could come down to another 90 yard kickoff return to the endzone.

That game last year was just crazy. Matt Flynn should be the starter. He has experience and has played well. He may share time with Ryan Perilloux. I look forward to seeing this sophomore get his shot. He has not played yet. He's had a couple of years to watch and was the #1 player in the nation out of high school right down the road at East St. John.

SI Ranks Football No. 2 in Preseason Poll
(08/15/2007) BY www.LSUsports.net
BATON ROUGE -- LSU has been ranked No. 2 in another national publication as Sports Illustrated picked the Tigers as the nation’s second-rated team behind Southern Cal in its preseason college football issue, which hit the news stands on Wednesday.
Despite losing four players in the first round of last April’s NFL Draft, including the No. 1 overall pick in quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the Tigers are still considered one of the nation’s top teams.
LSU goes into its season-opener against Mississippi State ranked No. 2 in the nation in the USA Today/Coaches Poll as well. The Associated Press Top 25 will be released later this week.
LSU returns 15 starters and 46 letterwinners from last year’s team that posted an 11-2 overall mark and beat Notre Dame, 41-14, in the Sugar Bowl.
Other Southeastern Conference teams in the SI Top 20 include Florida at No. 3, Arkansas at No. 13, Auburn at No. 16, Tennessee at No. 17, and Georgia at No. 19. LSU hosts Florida, Arkansas and Auburn in Tiger Stadium this year as well as facing seventh-ranked Virginia Tech in Baton Rouge during the second week of the season.
Individually, LSU defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey and offensive lineman Will Arnold both earned preseason All-America honors from Sports Illustrated. Dorsey, who was a first-team All-America pick a year ago, is coming off a 64-tackle, 8.5 tackles for losses season in 2006. Arnold earned second-team all-SEC honors in 2006 despite playing in just five games for the Tigers a year ago.
Sports Illustrated’s Preseason Top 20 1. USC 2. LSU 3. Florida 4. West Virginia 5. Louisville 6. Michigan 7. Virginia Tech 8. Texas 9. Oklahoma 10. Wisconsin 11. Ohio State 12. Rutgers 13. Arkansas 14. Penn State 15. Boise State 16. Auburn 17. Tennessee 18. Nebraska 19. Georgia 20. Cal
