Another pitiful performance from Eli Manning. It's gotten to the point where IMO his last name can't save him anymore. He's had plenty of opportunities, and few viable excuses. He's just flat out not getting it done. It's time to call a spade a spade.
Eli's a bust.

You may be right, kjac. I've never agreed with, "He's going to be better than Peyton". Clearly, he isn't....and doesn't appear that he will be.

Peyton? I'm sure right about now Giants fans would settle for him being as good as Vinny Testaverde.

It is tough of any QB playing in New York..no matter what name is back on a jersey! And for him, double the pressure... From what I watch I never see Eli, use anything as a excuse. I am sure he knows how he plays in certain games. Buy the way it is Peyton, buddy Payton was only one of the best running backs ever..Peace

To his credit, I haven't heard Eli use any excuse for his multiple pitiful performances. But he's not green anymore. When you're the first pick in the draft, especially under the circumstances, you win games for your team. Eli can't even keep from losing them.

Eli is still a work in progress. I have never been a Giants fan. But he could use some help on offence..The G-men have some talent..another wide-out would help. And I see your point that Eli isnt green..but QB'S have bad games..

Three years should produce a finished product IMO. Or at least a far better one than what we're seeing. You can't even compare his numbers to Philip Rivers anymore. It's too embarrassing for Eli. San Diego made out like bandits on that one.

Why would his last name save him anyway? Archie Manning wasn't really even an average quarterback. Some random career stats for Archie:
- 55.2% career completion percentage -125 TDs, 171 INTs -67.3 career passer rating
If anything, I would say Peyton is the exception in this family, not the norm.

kjac said it all!!! An NFL QB should have made the complete transformation by their 3rd year under center. As far as using things for excuses...read between the lines of any of Elis interviews. Archie played QB for the SAINTS back when they were the AINTS....fans wore bags over their heads to avoid being noticed at the games...His stat lack could ,very well, come from not having very much of a team around him.

I've seen a lot of QB's do more with a lot less. Here's a few...
Brett Favre John Elway Steve McNair Bernie Kosar Trent Green (KC years) Donovan McNabb Tom Brady
Excuses are for those who wish to fail. None of these guys used them.

You have to give Eli credit..not making any mistakes..running the game plan..and has played well lately.
Coming from a Cowboys fan...He has done his team right..to the NFC Championship game...But at Green Bay....it might be rough!

As a Giants fan for some years, I seem to remember EXACTLY the same things being said about Phil Simms...whose 88% Super Bowl completion record was just broken by Tom Brady, nearly 25 years later. I think it was about his 5th year with the Giants before he really started performing, and another couple after that before they won the super bowl.
That's not to say that I'm assuming that Eli can do the same, but I sure can hope! He seems to have the heart, and he seems to do his best stuff when the tide's against him. I get worried when I see them trying to go with a running game when a pass is really called for, as in the last couple of offensive plays against Dallas. Right now, the only one he seems to be throwing to is Amani Toomer, and that makes it much too easy to defend against him.

I, unlike wildflower there am NOT a Giants fan by any stretch of the imagination.
BUT...Eli is a great QB. He has the skills, he has his teams confidence and he does well in and outside of the pocket. Sure he's had his ups and downs, but what QB hasn't...with the exception of Mr. California...kinda. He's struggled at times too.
Some of Eli's problems stems from appearance. He doesn't interview well, he looks like he's about to drool half the time and appears apathetic on the field, but I think that just hides a deep concentration.
I think he's following the same path as father and brother. He's just going to get better.
I think he's going to have a HUGE problem in GB. He's never had to deal with inclement weather like he's going to experience in GB.

Well, it appears I owe someone an apology. Sorry Eli. I was a bit premature. The fact is, Eli got it done while the "legend" failed. He may not be the reason the Giants made the playoffs, but he's the reason they're going to the Super Bowl and GB is going home.

At least your man enough to say when you were wrong He just had a great last month of football...The Team did what it took. When you hit the playoffs and dont make mistakes , no INTs.run the team well, surprised me they made it all the way to the Super Bowl..10-1 on the road...what can anyone say...That is why we love football !!! Even though they beat my Cowboys..I will cheer for the G-men kjac

No one else will, so I'll say it. This thread makes me look almost as stupid as the guy who created the threads about alien angels.
But hey, at least my criticism of Eli doesn't involve Polydactyls being servants of satan.
