The Steeler's are the most overrated team in the NFL right now. They're not as good as their record might suggest. They haven't been playing their full potential and even underachieving in a lot of aspects. They were lucky in squeaking out a 3-0 win against the pitiful Dolphins on Monday Nite. They should have scored more points against the Dolphins in spite of the weather and field conditions. They lose to teams they're suppose to beat like the Cardinals, the Broncos, and the embarrassing loss to the hapless Jets. All teams that the Steeler's lost to are currently below .500. In lieu of all this the Steeler's are going to suffer a late season collapse and won't make the playoffs. Their defense and running game is overrated and their offensive line isn't getting the job done as they allow sack after sack. Not to mention it has stymied their ground game too. So the Steeler's will lose the remaining 5 games and finish with an 8-8 mark. The same record as last year and will be the NFL's most disappointing team this year.

Being a Browns fan, that would obviously make my day. But with games against Cincy, the Rams, and the Ravens still on their schedule, I don't see that happening.

Their defense and running game is overrated I'm actually a Titans fan, so somewhere deep down inside, I still hate the Steelers. But, how, exactly, are their defense and running game overrated?
As of right now, the Steelers have the 3rd best rushing record in the league- 2nd in the AFC behind Jacksonville.
Their defense- they're the top rated defense in the league. They give up the fewest total yards, fewest passing yards, give up the second fewest rushing yards, and give up the fewest ppg. They have the most sacks in the AFC. That doesn't sound like an overrated defense to me.
"...in spite of weather and field conditions." Spoken like someone who has never actually played football... if so, I'm willing to bet it wasn't with a real football. Weather, especially, preciptiation affects the ball's grip, weight, feel- essentially, it completely changes the ball. Weather is a huge factor.

Ok so they'll finish 9-7. They don't stand a snowballs chance in hell with Pats this Sunday. They struggle with the Jags regardless of home or away. They have trouble winning in the road this year regardless whether it's a good team or a crappy team (Rams), and they have trouble with the Ravens at Balt. Don't let the Steeler's 9-3 record fool you. They are still the most overrated and underachieveing team in the NFL.

9-7? They may have problems against the Pats and Jags, but I really don't see them losing to STL and BAL.
For the Pats game, the Steelers have a legitimate shot in that game. The Pats have struggled against teams with aggressive defenses and good ground games. If the Steelers D can play to its potential, this will be a good game.

The Pats routed the Steeler's 34-13, no surprise there. It goes to show you how overrated the Steeler's Defense is. Next they have the Jags at home. Jags are too much of a physical match against the Steelers and the Steelers are sure to lose this one too. Jags 24-17.

The slacking Steelers choke again 29-22 to the Jags. The loss puts the slumping Steelers playoff hopes in Jeopardy. The Browns have caught up with them and will win the division. You can count on it. The meltown continues and will finsh the season 9-7. The slumping Steelers are bad on the road this year. Rams will find a way to beat them and the Ravens too. No matter how bad both teams are doing.

Ok so they beat the Rams and might make the playoffs. I don't see them beating the Ravens. 1.) It's at Baltimore and the Steelers struggle against the Ravens there. 2.) I really don't care how much the Ravens are in funk or how chaotic they are. Playing against their hated division arch rival will get them pumped up and we know how much Ray Lewis and co hate the Steelers with a passion. Even if the Steelers do make the playoffs, they'll be a one and done team.

The Steelers win the AFC North with the Browns losing today. So you might say that the Steelers have backed their way into winning the AFC North Division and a hollow win indeed. They won't make it far into the playoffs. Whatever seat they take, they'll be a one and done team.

They fell to 10-6 and they'll be 10-7 when the Jags beat them again. The Steelers making the playoffs this year is kind of a farce. You might say they backed their way into it and don't deserve it IMO. Next year they'll implode. They'll face a much tougher schedule with their opponents on the up and up. Next year it'll be looking at a disastrous 6-10 season.

I was browsing the site, trying to learn more about it other than hit search, and come up blank. I stumbled on your post here. I am not real secure in my own knowledge of football stats regarding football team to make too serious a statement on the subject. However, living in Pa. and being a Cowboys fan among a family of Steeler fanatics, I think it's safe to say I have made some observances concerning the Steelers. It's what really counts in any teams standing. It isn't really about points in the long run is it? It's more a thing about heart. A team has to have something that really makes them strong no matter how they perform. That is their LOYAL fans. That's what impresses me when it comes to any sport. How much a teams fans can love them and remain loyal through thick and thin. The Redskins are a team that has endured years of being the underdogs. Yet many fans have loved them despite it. GO Redskins this year. Kind of brings a tear to my eye! ;) I remember the Eagles having the same kind of story not that long ago. I have a rather odd outlook on football, but this is what impressed me more than stats in any sport. It's a good thing that sports can bring us together as people, the common ground beig we can become fans and forget our differences for a while because of it? Maybe I have this outlook because of having survived being a Cowboys fan here in Steeler country among a Steeler family. If I had a dollar for every taunt I have heard from my family? I could take a nice long vacation. Best team money can buy....the Conboys. Oh well. I love the Cowboys and my family so all is well!
