Well, there's a reliable source for news of the Green Bay Packers-the Los Angeles Times. What, they don't have a team of their own to write about, so they start rumors about the rest of the league? The "reporter" isn't even named!

I really hope Favre has the integrity I've always thought he does and this is a hoax...or a joke...or something!!
He's had one of the greatest runs in NFL history and he needs to call it done, rest on those impressive laurels, and count the days until one second past 5 years when he takes his rightful place in the Hall Of Fame...

I dont think green bay would know much about favre talking to OTHER TEAMS, now would they. They'd know a lot more than some anonymous hack in LA that wouldn't know his ass from a hole in the ground.
And as far as not being bright: "Green Bay" and "Favre," as proper names, are capitalized; and the end of your sentence -being that it is a question- needs a different bit of punctuation than the one you gave it; what would that be, I wonder?
Hence the question mark...... yeah, that's it! A question mark at the end of a question, Mr. Not So Bright(which should also have been capitalized, as shown). Also, the ellipses -you know, the dots to show that you're trailing off-should only ever contain three dots; no more, no less.

Think about this for a moment. Favres a diehard Packer right? What would be better for the team, his retiring or another good draft pick by trading him off?
Maybe we could trade him to get Jevon Walker back

What would be better for the team, his retiring or another good draft pick by trading him off? But what GOOD team would have enough room under the cap to absorb his contract? 'Cause he isn't gonna go to someplace like the Dolphins or the Jets; not at his age-he'd go somewhere to try to win a Super Bowl...and if a team was already good enough to make a run w/him, chances are they'd have to cut an already established QB-I'm thinking about the Saints and Drew Brees-and for what? A guy that makes 12M a year, and might be gone in two seasons-or two games? Yeah, I know he's an ironman; but that first "big one" could still happen...not to mention, there's no guarantee that he'd be able to fit right into the new team's system; and he sounded pretty sincere when he said he didn't have enough in him to do that part of the game anymore.

I also don't think Brett would want to sour his legacy-many Packer fans -myself included- had a bit of a letdown of good feelings for Reggie White when he suddenly showed up in Carolina Panther colors...he knows he's "Mr. Packer" for all eternity; why screw that up? He'll always be able to make money through endorsements in Wisconsin, even after the rest of America forgets about him; heck, look at Zeke Bratkowski-I heard a radio ad with him about ten years ago; he was Starr's backup for God's sake, and he still got work! Brett's no dummy; he knows where the toast is buttered...the time to trade him was about three years ago (thankfully, they didn't), when he could be counted on to give a team a solid three years of production; now, well...

I think brett wants to win football games......not "get his bread buttered".
Knowing what a fierce competitor he is, I could see him taking a major pay cut to play somewhere else, if he felt that he could win there.
The reality that the past season was a run of over-achievement that could, most likely, not be repeated, has set in on him. It is quite a coincidence that he has not filed retirement papers, and that his retirement announcement came days after the Packers failed to bring him the potent receiver (Moss) he has so desperately craved for several years.
I would hate to see it. It would remind me of Emmitt Smith.

Favre says he is not coming back 23 minutes ago Buzz Up PrintNEW YORK (TICKER) —Brett Favre has refuted a report which stated he was having second thoughts about his retirement.
On Thursday, the Los Angeles Times reported the former Green Bay Packers quarterback - who announced his retirement last month - was contemplating a comeback with another team.
Citing NFL sources, the Times reported that Favre had been quietly talking with teams about their interest in trading for the three-time NFL Most Valuable Player.
However, Favre told SI.com on Friday that he is not considering coming out of retirement.
“That’s the last thing I’m thinking about,” Favre said. “I have no idea where it came from, but it certainly didn’t come from me. I’m happy about my decision and I haven’t once said, ‘I wonder if I made the wrong decision.’ I know it’s the right one.”
Favre also was surprised a story surfaced about him returning.
“It’s crazy to me that I’m the guy they’re all talking about, and the story is out there everywhere, and I have nothing to do with it,” Favre told SI.com. “It’s not something I’m thinking about. It’s kind of funny. Even when I’m retired, they won’t let me stay retired.”
On March 4, Favre, who played with the Packers for 16 seasons, announced his retirement during an emotional press conference at Lambeau Field.
Favre, 38, has yet to give written notice of his retirement to the league or players’ union.

Thats what I would say too, if I had been "quietly" talking about something that suddenly became public.
It seems pretty simple to me......if he wants to dispel the rumors......file your retirement papers.

He could just sit around playing cards until late October when the Pack is 8-0 but Rodgers gets beatup and cant finish the season. Who ya gonna call? The "Gunslinger" Hell make a big comeback, take his second Super Bowl win and ride off into into Dixie..I mean the sunset.
Shoot! I just woke up... back to work.

Just for the record, if they're in the middle of the sentence, three dots...if they end the sentence, it should be four....

I would hate to see it. It would remind me of Emmitt Smith. Apples and oranges...
The Cowgirls just pitched Emmit off to the side when they thought they didn't need him any more. Since he felt he had a good year or two left, he went with Arizona on his own. Emmit certainly had earned the right, as has Favre, to go out on his own terms, having only played for one team. Which is why there is little in sports that makes me any happier than seeing the Cowgirls get their asses kicked. After all Emmit gave the 'girls, and the class act he always has been, he deserved better!!
I REALLY hope there's nothing to this Favre not really retiring thing...it's time he rode off gracefully into the sunset!!

Emmitt wanted too much money. You cant demand superstar pay if you cant perform like a superstar anymore. That was proven when he went to Arizona and disgraced himself. (before Roy Williams laid him out).
